Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I asked about this in another thread and got a couple of suggestions; one was that I ask it in a separate thread. So I'm asking:

I'm working on a sign, not sure how to word it and would love any suggestions (no, I mean REAL suggestions) on a related subject.

"Sharia Law? No real danger.
_______ Law? VERY real danger"

Having trouble with the blank. "American religious", "Evangelical"; I'm not sure what wording fits well. I'm not even sure that's how I want to put it...has to be very short; long signs are no good. So I'm hoping for suggestions. The other side will be "Government out of women's health". And yes, I know what Raptor's suggestion will be, but I want REAL ones, if anyone cares to contribute.

Any alternate wording at all would be welcome that gets the message across that Sharia law isn't something we need to be bothered about, but the current issues regarding religions in America is something to actually fear. Thanx.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I'd go with Puritan, myself. It harkens back to that whole Red Letter business quite nicely.

          Stone Age Law

I considered "Christian Law," "Protestant Law," "Puritanical Law." Nothing quite fits because of the
diversity of Protestant Fundamentalist Christians <= they can't even agree with each other about much.

Keep the Shiny side up

Just say "Christian Law".

It'll appeal to your base, who think all Christians want women in the kitchen, barefoot and preganant, want all gay folks in jail, and want to ban contraception and abortion.

Of course the majority of Christians who don't feel that way will be upset, but it'll be a great sign.

You're a bright Woman Nikki.

I'm sure you could have come up with a cute slogan all on your own.

You and I know that this isn't asking for help.

No... this is an attempt at feeding the trolls.

Good on Geezer for replying back in an equally non-confrontational way.

Okay....

I'll make a slogan, just to prove I'm on your side.

"Sharia Law? No real danger.
Martial Law? VERY real danger"

Whatever side you're on, mindless Martial Law is a threat we all need to fight against since we're quickly becoming a 3rd world country and it could happen when gas reaches 6 bucks a gallon and millions of people are working minimum wage an hour to barely pay for a gallon after federal and state tax.

You really should ask yourself why gas prices are rising when we're at 15-year lows for demand, historic highs for supply, and gas and oil production have INCREASED since Obama took office.

None of it matchs up to what the conservatives want you to think. ;)

Show me proof of any of that Kwicko.

Supply, at least US supply, is much lower.

I don't deal in theoreticals.

Although, I am in agreement not to touch our own supplies, but not for the reasons the bleeding heart liberals think. I want to be the last country with oil.

You think they're Fing us now? Just wait until Mid-East-sister-in-a-burka will cut off her boyfriends testicle for just an ounce of gasoline.

F-them

We're doing our grandkids the biggest favor of all by paying high prices if the only other option is spending our own stuff.

In the end, in the world of the gas-less, the one with gas is king.

Why would you think that "bleeding heart liberals" wouldn't think that? We generally look much further ahead than you knee-jerk conservatives do, and we plan accordingly. Why do you think we push for alternative energy sources? I'd love to be the last nation with gas and oil, but even then, it's going to run out someday, and I'd rather be the FIRST nation with a solid alternative infrastructure.

It's not that "bleeding heart liberals" disagree with your point; we're just far better at packaging and selling it than you are!

How is that possible when all of our offshore drilling is shut off.

Oh, don't tell me.... I forgot.....

We don't have much more to give but corn since we gave all of our labor jobs to Mexico in the 70's-80's and all of our tech jobs to India/China in the 2000's

Yep..... most of my college degree friends and family are working at Old Navy or Pizza Hut if they're lucky with their Liberal Arts degrees.

THANK, ME, I DIDN'T GO TO COLLEGE!!!!

Sure, I don't like it, but then again, I have no mortgage. Those mighty high gas prices and the effect they have on food and everything else is effecting you much more than it is me.

He ain't my President. And I hated Bush almost as much before he was in, BTW.

You seem to have me mixed up with someone you've invented in your mind. I have no mortgage. I have no car payment. I have but two credit cards, on which I owe a grand total of $263 today. I have no student loans, because I never got any. I was in a unique position for college - no scholarships that I could find (because I was a high school dropout who stayed out for ten years working at least two jobs that entire time, and sometimes three), no financial aid because my parents made too much money (never mind that I left home at 16 and never lived with them again, nor ever took money from them), no grants, no nothin'. I paid my tuition with my own money, bought my books myself, worked and paid my rent, gave up my car and bought a bicycle, and lived like a monk. And the money still ran out before I graduated, so I don't have a degree, but have an education, and have worked hard since I was a kid, and anticipate working until the day I die.

Ask him what, exactly? Why they're issuing new drilling permits for the Gulf?

Do you really think that the President can wave his hand and make gas prices go up?

And more importantly, do you really think that any President WOULD do that in an election year? Remember, gas was quite a bit higher in 2008, before Obama's election.

I'd say we were twins, but I guess I'll settle for identical cousins.

We're both full of awesomeness, for real....

You spread it your way, and I'll spread it my way.

Either way, we're about one and and a million in this F-d up culture in this F-d up country.

A large part of me plays the Martyr you're displaying here, but I choose to keep that part of my self with the family.

Charity starts at home. In these times, I cant think of anyone more worthy of my good times than blood.

Good luck saving the world. Maybe if the partisan pretenses and biases and hatred were ever dropped we could do it together.

Which is, where it is for me - till Christianity outright rejects and banishes these folk, publicly and irrevocably... so long as they consider such vermin better than their intended victims...
IMHO they've smeared THEMSELVES with the big brush.

Anthony, you NAILED IT! That's close enough, and short enough, thank you very much. I wish there had been other suggestions, because I think there would have been some good ones, maybe even a better one, but this got thread jacked pretty early, and that's okay, 'cuz you gave me a great one.

I dunno where 6string got confused, or else he's snarking, because it's the CONSERVATIVE base which wants all the things he listed, but eh, he's not important anyway. He's just a puppet of Alt.Univ.'s in this thread, and I see the usual suspect took the bait and ran with it, as always.

I wouldn't use "Christian" because it's NOT Christian law that's the problem, obviously. It's a very small segment of Christians who the majority of the public rejects anyway.

Thanx again, Anthony: that's the one. As to the asshole who claimed I was trolling, it's irrelevant that you believe that despite it being completely false, given we know where your mind is at. I think up a number of things that I just can't condense down far enough for a sign or find the right wording for. I just don't ask for help with them here (I usually go to Cafe Press and do a search, since most of my stuff has come from bumper stickers, or ask someone from Occupy or Choey); if I can't find anything, I either accept that they can't be made into sign material, or I keep ruminating on it until something comes up.
