IN THE YEAR 2013... ONE MAN HAS MANAGED TO FIGHT ALL OF THE HYPE AND KEEP WHAT IS HIS, HIS OWN....

I had a whole thing there, but I already lost interest.....

God Dammit Don.... I grew up listening to a lot of your songs solo and with the Eagles. Some of it was total shit (Life in the Fast Lane), but there were so many awesome songs you all made and even more when you ventured out on your own like the 70's version of Justin Timberlake.

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU'RE COMING FROM......

To this day, not a single DOORS song can be heard on a car commercial. They did right.....

In the mean time, I can listen to any version of a Doors song on YouTube.....

It's not as if you're dead and Courtney Love is selling the remaining rights to the Eagles playlist to some dipshit suit. Playing YouTube is how the new generations get to listen and appreciate your awesome music.

But now.... The top 2 tracks on YouTube have the following message and penalty associated with them....

"This video previously contained a copyrighted audio track. Due to a claim by a copyright holder, the audio track has been muted. "

(To all the readers, that was two live versions of one of the most awesome songs ever made)

Why are you being such a bitch about YouTube, Don?

I'm probably next to barely relevant now and I'm 33. When I first heard your awesome music I was only 5 years old.

In an age where music is all about auto-tune and dub-step and most of it has nothing to do with talent whatsoever, I would hope that a true lyricist and vocalist such as yourself would be proud to let the new generations listen.

Be a real man and open youtube up for your songs.

They'll LOVE Hotel California.....

They'll LOVE it even more when they have their own crystal clear CD version they paid for....

If they're lucky, they'll find a pristine vinyl and be able to hear it the way it was meant to be heard..... on a turntable....

Good day to you sir, and know that I applaud you for never whoring yourself out like Bono and U2 did to Target and Apple.

Please don't continue to be the complete opposite of the U2whoring spectrum.

Your music is FAR too important to hide it away from the kids today.......

especially when you consider what they are listening to today.

In 1968 The Doors did accept $75,000 from Buick to allow them to use Light My Fire in one of their tv commercials for the Buick Opel. The ad lyrics were "Come on Buick light my fire!".

Wow dude... STFU.... Really?

I won't be one of those dicks who say "proof or it didn't happen".....

I'd still LOVE to see this video and any documentation of this.

Maybe the aftermath of this is why NO Doors songs have been sold ever since. Back then the artists had a lot more control then these poor idiots have today.....

From Wikipedia:

"The Buick Incident"

"John Densmore recalls, that Buick offered $75,000 in October 1968 to adapt the song for use in a Buick Opel TV commercial ("Come on, Buick, light my fire"). Morrison, however, was still in London after a European tour had just ended on September 20 and could not be reached by the other group members, who agreed to the deal in his absence."

I don't know how many times or even if it ever aired on tv because Morrison went ballisitic when he found out. In Oliver Stone's The Doors the commercial can be seen. It looks very real to me, but I suppose it could have been re-created for the movie.

Thanks Jongs... I will have to see that movie.

I know! It's crazy that I haven't.....

BTW... has anybody ever seen pictures of The Saint, or the 2nd Batman since then!!!!

The old addage "growing old isn't for pussies" is on point!

By all means go watch the movie 'cause I think you'll really like it. It did not get good reviews and did not do well at the box office, but I think in many ways it's an important film. Val Kilmer is terrific as Jim Morrison. He nailed the swagger and attitude, and sang most of the songs himself. One of the criticisms is that his portrayal is too over the top, that he's perpetually stoned or drunk, and never has any moments of sobriety. But according to Ray Manzarek, that's how Morrison was in real life. Meg Ryan is good as the long-suffering girlfriend. There's even a few boob shots of Meg, but they could be stunt boobs.

Yeah Jongs, I'm going to download it.... (hehe... here's jack straddling the line between Dems and Thugs)....

The funny thing is, when my youngest brother saw a picture of Morrison, he didn't believe it was him. He never even saw that movie, but thought that Val Kilmer was Jim..... :)

It's kind of like that scene in Goonies when "Mouth" (The living Cory) was naming the presidents on all of the coins they found in the well and said "Martin Sheen".

"That's not Martin Sheen, idiot, that's John F. Kennedy!"

"Yeah, well he played Kennedy once!!!!"

Good for Jimmy he was better looking than Val when he started.

Bad for Jimmy he always hated himself and probably made old, fat Elvis look sexually appealing before he died.

But, good again for Jimmy is he died way before Val Kilmer did in terms of age, and now Val looks Dave Thomas from the Wendy's commercial fame.

Screw getting old....

I was giving myself a shelf-life of 50, but I've recently reconsidered....

If I don't die of cancer by 46, I'm sure there is more than one tool in my house that can get the job done.

You need the love of a good woman, and a rich one wouldn't hurt either.
