A Georgia city is backing off its ordinance requiring gun ownership.

The tiny town of Nelson in April passed an ordinance requiring heads of household to own a gun and ammunition. That prompted the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence to file a federal lawsuit in May challenging the constitutionality of the law.

The two sides on Thursday notified the court that they had reached a settlement agreement.

The settlement says Nelson will add a provision to the ordinance saying that the ordinance is not enforceable and will never be enforced.

City leaders had said when they passed the ordinance that they didn't intend to enforce it and, it included a number of broad exemptions. But the Brady Center argued in its lawsuit that it violated residents' constitutional rights. http://www.ajc.com/news/ap/social-issues/georgia-city-backs-off-on-man

So they passed A LAW to FORCE people to buy guns, but which they never intended to enforce, and had to be made to add the provision that they won't enforce it...what a statement!

Crazy abounds in America today.

America loves a winner!

Worked just fine in Kennesaw, GA, where crime rates dropped dramatically after the 1982 law of mandatory gun ownership was passed.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen
