Did She/He/It just create us the way a gamer would make a game, designing in the realities & parameters, but on a VASTLY larger & more complex scale? One that includes physical interpretations of energy & mass & a cosmic sense of humour?
Are we just kids discovering the parent's ways of Cosmic digital creation, it the midst of our own confusticating analog tantrums??

Submitted for your consideration...

Thanks Rod. God made us all Trelanes. We have timeless infinity to go before we'll really know anything. First thing I'm gonna do when that day comes is find a way to get close to Paget Brewster.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I don't believe in a sentient creator. So I can't address that topic.

OONJERAH - We are too dumb to live and smart enough to wipe ourselves out.

But if YOU have a consciousness, and other beings here have a consciousness, than how can that NOT reflect on & demonstrate evidence of a UNIVERSAL consciousness which by default you are a part of?
Perhaps the 'creator' is not as much 'sentient' as blindly creative-? Perhaps we were the one work which SPOKE BACK & prompted his retreat to other works?

You are the spawn of Satan. Maybe aliens. Whatever. I shall witness your heresy nevermore!

I'm not sure what consciousness is, except maybe language. A person without language is simply reactive. A person with language can be reflective.

And somewhere in the multiverse, Firefly has just been renewed for seasons 14 and 15 because last week's premiere was the highest rated show on HBO. Even bigger than Game of Thrones!

On the top ten list of multiverse theories, God as Gamer in a Universal Simulation is my favorite for the least believable, although I find it both curious and compelling that numerous developments in physics, if followed sufficiently far, bump into some variation on the parallel-universe theme.

There has been a book written on the subject: Greene, Brian (2011-01-25). The Hidden Reality: Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos. Random House, Inc.. Kindle Edition. www.amazon.com/Hidden-Reality-Parallel-Universes-Cosmos-ebook/dp/B004C

To you everything a joke is.

I have no pot. Tried it in college; made me paranoid. Didn't like the Universal Consciousness being so aware of me...

I've gotten to the point finally, where god or no god...don't really matter none.

All that matters is making it through one more damn day until I can't anymore.

I've decided theology is a worthless frittering away of time.

If you'll excuse me, I got dishes need doing, and god ain't here to do 'em

Perfectly reasonable & understandable take there, Wish.
I'm just waxing theological here. The Book in me.

Theologia: "reasoning or discussion concerning the Deity" ~Augustine
of Hippo

My experience, that^ Topic usually comes back to a named God, the
creator of our race, as He is defined & worshipped in any of our many
religions.

I thought we were skipping the Theology when Chris opens with, "Did
She/He/It just create us the way a gamer ..." and "Are we just kids
discovering the parent's ways of Cosmic digital creation ..." She/He/It
(Not contracted as SHIt) indicates a conscious entity, not defined by
us as a reflection of US, our Ego and our frailties.

He mentions "UNIVERSAL consciousness." I could call It the Source,
the Creator, or "All that There Is." Yogis call it Maya.

This is a thread about Awareness, not Religion ... I hope Jehovah
stays out of it.

G's "Can God & Science & Christianity co-exist?" thread is a better
place to talk religion. I hope. I tend to vent when discussing religion
-- so I like that.

Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet.
Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich. (Source?)

Or awareness OF religion... or the religion of non-religiousity.

Heh heh, this thread is what we make of it, and isn't that what consciousness is itself?

Yes, ^ so we are taught.
Create the life you want; make your "luck." And most definitely,
I feel that Feelings, Wants are a big part of this challenge.

Animals are aware and mostly operate on instinct, sometimes on
conditioning. Like the animals, most of us are heavily conditioned,
but unlike them, we are taught that we have choices and are respon-
sible for our thoughts, words & deeds. Choice and Responsibility.

It's a fascinating topic, complex.
But as a challenge that we face daily, what if we're not up to it?
How about ... I did well today, but I wanted to do Better. Both
perfectionism and laziness can defeat us. Balance is good.

Desiderata, favorite line: "Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle
with yourself."

Also ... my mind is not my brain; my brain is not my mind. They are
often in conflict.

Richard Bach's Illusions tells us this is a school. I believe that.
I don't think anyone does the full course in one lifetime. I know
for many here, the notion of a soul may be Woo, magic. Fine.

The Intellect, like the Ego, needs to be aware of its limits, and
give way to a higher wisdom.

====================== :>

Ego makes fools of us all.
Self-esteem, self-respect, yes!
Ego, not so much. ~Oonjerah
