Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Jon Stewart pretty much nailed the whole mess, long before Bundy started spouting his racist rhetoric. I would love to hear any RATIONAL right-wing defense of Bundy's stance/actions, not to mention Hannity's in calling him a "patriot", given the following simple facts:

Bundy has grazed his cattle and refused to pay the legal fees attendant in doing so. That is breaking the law instituted by Ronald Reagan and the federal government.

He took his case to court, and it was decided against him. He has refused to pay the fines the courts levied against him.

Bundy states "I abide by all of Nevada state laws." That's not true. And his statement "I don’t recognize the United States government as even existing" is directly in opposition to the NEVADA STATE CONSTITUTION, Article 1, Section 2:
Quote:

All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for the protection, security and benefit of the people; and they have the right to alter or reform the same whenever the public good may require it. But the Paramount Allegiance of every citizen is due to the Federal Government in the exercise of all its Constitutional powers as the same have been or may be defined by the Supreme Court of the United States; and no power exists in the people of this or any other State of the Federal Union to dissolve their connection therewith or perform any act tending to impair, subvert, or resist the Supreme Authority of the government of the United States. The Constitution of the United States confers full power on the Federal Government to maintain and Perpetuate its existence, and whensoever any portion of the States, or people thereof attempt to secede from the Federal Union, or forcibly resist the Execution of its laws, the Federal Government may, by warrant of the Constitution, employ armed force in compelling obedience to its Authority. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/04/the-irony-of-clive

/

He has now taken up arms against a branch of the federal government, against the law, the Nevada Constitution, and the courts. How is this man in ANY way right about anything whatsoever?

Like I said, Stewart nailed it:

It's worth mentioning that Nevada became a state in 1864, during the Civil War. That's probably part of the reason for the language in its Constitution.
Nobody would have let them in without them swearing allegiance to the united federal government.

Niki ...

Once it got taken over by the righteous religious (all those abortion restrictions passed by the House, b/c you know, they were all about JOBS JOBS JOBS!), the Civil War secessionists (cause you know the ONLY thing Constitutional about the Federal government is national defense and guns - thanks for THAT one Jongs), and BIG MONEY business (here's looking at YOU Krotch brothers!) ...

has anything rational come out of them - at all?

Why would you think it was going to happen NOW?

But thanks for the link! It was so good, I'm reposting it here. http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/v4jh6e/apocalypse-cow

Funny, you don't seem to want to pay attention to what others said, first. SOP w/ the likes of you, 1kiki. Ignore the whole issue, and instead focus only on those who you want to ridicule and mock.

Yes, the article mentions that; you're absolutely right.

Kiki: Glad you enjoyed the link. I watched it a couple of times; it's so simple, so absolutely obvious, I just shake my head. And no, I had no expectations, I just wondered if anyone could possibly provide any kind of even semi-rational reason that Bundy was "right" in ANY way (by the way, it's FOUR court judgments, so it's not like he hadn't had his day in court)...

Cliven Bundy = really stupid, out of touch old man that has gone viral. If he had any real supporters they'd tell him to shut up. He's not a hater, doesn't hate black folk, just clueless, backwards. The gunned up supporters are more of a story to me - who they hell are they? How can they possibly justify shooting someone or having their "women folk" shot for this guy?

Yup. Essentially my question. As Stewart showed so clearly with his video clips, NONE of the things Hannity supposedly "supports" about Bundy holds up for two seconds, but of course, the easy answer to those who drove from all over to support Bundy with guns, etc., are simply just like him: ignorant and angry, end of story. It's the PUBLIC figures who supported him, who supposedly are somewhat more educated, who make me shake my head.
