Although I've made a lot of money at a few jobs before layoffs, most of my jobs were very low level positions. I've worked in environments with all white people, and I've worked in environments where I was the only white person in the room.

I get along with people I work with, regardless. I always have. Somebody might say "well jack, you don't invite them to your home or hang out with them after work". To which I would reply, "I don't invite anyone to my home or hang out with them outside of work".

Outside of very old friends and family, I don't want to hang out with any of you. No offense. I just don't really enjoy any of you, regardless of race, color, religion or whatever else...

My point here is, I recall being outside of an Irish bar on the night of 9/11, 2001. We lived in a largely white area that had a pretty big Muslim area in it that surrounded a local Masque.

Back in 2001, I didn't have to go outside to smoke. I was out there because just recently a car full of Muslims threw a bottle at somebody going into the bar and we were on look out.

Just at that time, a black guy was riding his bike past the bar. Today, I think there's no doubt he would have crossed the street and rode away from us, a "white mob" out front of an Irish bar. But 15 years ago, he did no such thing. He even rode past us and joked and said something like "after today we're all on the same side". I invited him in for a drink. He wasn't that brave, but we both bullshitted for a while and I really believe that in 2001 we were on a very solid path to White and Black relations becoming something real.

My friends and I at the time listened to mostly rap music. We all had BIG speakers rattling our trunks, and most rock music didn't have the bass to do it. Tupac was dead at the time, but his music was prolific and to this day still means more to me than most other artists of any other genre or media overall.

Fast-forward to 2016...

White and Black relations are almost non-existant, at least in the media.

I still get along with co-workers no problem, but instead of just being myself like I used to be, I get along with them by always being calculating and making sure I never say anything that can be considered offensive to anyone.

That's not just with Blacks, but it's with Women as well. I can't say a fucking thing anymore. I'm a White Male, so my only role is to be in the background and never say anything that matters, or just completely stay quiet.

One on One, I'm pretty awesome with anyone. When I start a new job, I usually don't say much the first few months. I just watch and listen and learn about people. I've always done that. So I guess that at the end of the day, my life hasn't really changed all that much.

I just think that what has happened in the last 8 years is terrible. We were on the road to working together, Blacks and Whites.

The Obama Administration has set back race relations to a time before The Wiz was a movie.
