Hmmm... what did you think was going to happen: That you were supposed to be able to screw around and then have after-the-fact rights to whatever happened? It takes nine months and some risk for a woman to make a baby, and then a lot of lost sleep, expense, and job conflict afterwards.

As far as I'm concerned, work and authority are supposed to go hand-in-hand. Until you manage to contribute to that child's existence, you have no say in what happens. The woman is putting in the work and the risk, it's her choice, not yours. And, no, IMHO your genetic contribution is too small to count. That's a very "ownership" kind of approach.

So, son, here are mens' reproductive rights in my book:

1) If you don't want children, keep it in your pants.

2) If you can't keep it in your pants, at least use a condom.

3) If you can't do 1) and 2), don't whine about the results.

4) If you DO want children, get married to the prospective mother. And make sure that you are BOTH on-board with the idea of children. Nothing says "serious about wanting to be a daddy" like marriage and a job, which gives YOU at least some legal standing and mom-to-be some reassurance that you will support both her and child while she is losing sleep and career opportunities taking care of baby. I'm glad your GFs didn't fall for you being smart, white, and male with good front "teef". I think WISH is right- I think they smelled the crazy coming offa you. Ya gotta be reliable if you're going to be a daddy.

5) If you don't think 4) is fair, then go back to 1).

I swallowed that bitter pill when I was 24 and it's only recently come out because of a political argument that got out of hand during this evil campaign.....

We had a lot of fun together. Friends with benefits, but nothing really serious.

Maybe I didn't give her the answer she was looking for???

One day she tells me that we're going to have a baby.

Two weeks later, she tells me over the phone "oh, about that thing... don't worry about it"...

I have yelled at her one time since then.

I've never had a conversation with her again.

My Boy or Girl would be a Sophmore in High School now.

On the off chance my nearly 40 year old weed/beer soured sperm can even make an egg do it's thing......

I can pretty much guarantee that I wouldn't see their 18th birthday.

But let's be real. I'll never have a kid today. I'm un-lovable. I go out of my way these days to be un lovable.

That Girl at the same time could have done the EXACT opposite and had the kid and then called me un-fit as a father because I lived in my Grandma's basement and didn't have a good job back then if she wanted. And I'd still be paying child support for a kid I barely ever got to see for another 5 years now.....

Somewhere in the middle, there is fairness

I'm not going to say that I have no responsibility or total control.

I'm just wondering where the Man comes in to the equation.

And if there is no "Budge", well.... don't ask where all the "Good Guys" went...

We' got a fucking brain and realized that Marriage is a completely one sided deal and men always get fucked

1) If she had the child, and you stepped out of the picture you'd be complaining about being roped into paying child support for a child you never saw, or wanted.

Which is why I'm thinking that most of your complaints about your sad, sad life, and how you been done wrong, come out of a bottle. Because it sounds like you want to complain about what's behind door #1, and door #2, and door #3, and door #4 and ... well, pretty much everything. Because none of this is your fault. Oh no.
