Awesome picture. Awesome spider.

Unfortunately, I can't read the story. Even though I have adblocker on, I refuse to give any business to a website that will only show me a few sentences at a time without clicking "next page" so they can force ads on people.

With a reverse image google search I found the name of the spider is the Cyclocosmia.

True to the video, this will probably haunt your nightmares. I'm fully expecting to dream about this in the next few days now.

Chilling....

5 sightings in several millennia. That seemed unusual.
And thought to be extinct.

Not the first animal thought to be extinct then found.

The Coelacanth leaps to mind. It was thought to be extinct until one was caught off the coast of South Africa in 1938.

I confess to looking up the year and where.

Li Wenhua is the farmer. There are other stories around.

I've seen mention that it's only been seen 6 times since Er Ya was published (around 5BC - 2BC), and 6 times in the past 100 years, and 6 times since 2000. Perhaps Chinese don't have much practice relaying facts in a news forum.

I thought 6 times in 2,020 years was fair rare. But 6 times in 18 years? Not so much.

The most recent formerly Extinct specimen I recall was The Nelson, a 4 inch shrew.
