Putin and Kim Jong Un are meeting in Vladivostok today for the first-ever summit between N Korea and Russia. My guess is that the content of the meeting will be devoted o Russia running a natgas pipeline and possible railway through N Korea to S Korea. If this is agreed to, N Korea would stand to collect transit fees on the natgas (and cargo?) passing through N Korea, and to be able to tap off/purchase some of the natgas running thru.

If N Korea has a reliable source of fuel, (1) it's economy will be able to prosper and (2) it would no longer be able to say that it needs nuclear power tomeet its power needs. If headway can be made on de-nuclearization, this will provide moral and economic support for S Korean President Moon Jae-In in his goal to normalize relations with N Korea.

Any of this is sure to make Pompous and Bolt-on unhappy. Will they go so far as to call Russia a "rogue nation" and attempt to apply universal sanctions?

If they do, then S Korea would be forced to choose between is nat gas supply (from Russia) and the USA, as would the EU (which has already told the USA to stuff it as far as Nord StreamII is concerned). It would also force Turkey and southern Europe to choose between its gas pipeline(s) and the USA.

Here we see energy-supply geoplolitics at work. This explains some of the urgency to cut off the pipeline pathways through the Black Sea (originally planned as South Stream) Turkey and/or Syria to the eastern Mediterranean, Greece, the former Yugoslavia, Italy, and possibly southern France and Spain. Also Israel's urgency to develop natgas supplies found under the eastern Mediterranean (altho they would have to steal Lebanon's supplies and transit in order to do so, which explains why Pompous stopped by in Lebanon to make a number of unreasonable demands which must be complied with or face sanctions.)

Also, this could explain Russia's long=running project of complete separation from western finances: They have their own SWIFT, their own independent internet, no western debt, and a western-independent linkage to China's own version of SWIFT. I think that even if Russia is completely sanctioned, they could still trade with, and through, China.

One geopolotical analyst believes that eventually the USA and its satraps will eventually be quarantined from world trade.

It will be interesting to see how this all develops; but keep your eye on this story; this may be "the" trigger for universal sanctions against Russia, and all of the fallout that this entails.
