Quote:Some millennials are digging their heels in, resistant to their new status; 37-year-old Lily Saujani feels particularly affronted. “It’s ridiculous. We have been judged by the younger generation who think they have invented everything,” she says. “But really, they are just wearing what we wore in our teen years.” Saujani says she first felt uncool when she was scrolling TikTok (an app invented by a millennial, incidentally) and saw that being born before 1992 was considered old. “There’s definitely an unspoken – but sometimes spoken – competition between the generations on TikTok. And yes, I do feel old when I’ve been on it,” she says, before adding, in a very millennial way: “But my dogs have gone viral a few times.”
Quote:Once upon a time you dressed so fine Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall' You thought they were all kidding you You used to laugh about Everybody that was hanging out Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging your next meal How does it feel, how does it feel? To be without a home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Ahh you've gone to the finest schools, alright Miss Lonely But you know you only used to get juiced in it Nobody's ever taught you how to live out on the street And now you're gonna have to get used to it You say you never compromise With the mystery tramp, but now you realize He's not selling any alibis As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes And say do you want to make a deal? How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, with no direction home A complete unknown, like a rolling stone Ah you never turned around to see the frowns On the jugglers and the clowns when they all did tricks for you You never understood that it ain't no good You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you You used to ride on a chrome horse with your diplomat Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat Ain't it hard when you discovered that He really wasn't where it's at After he took from you everything he could steal How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, with no direction home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Ahh princess on a steeple and all the pretty people They're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made Exchanging all precious gifts But you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe You used to be so amused At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used Go to him he calls you, you can't refuse When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal How does it feel, ah how does it feel? To be on your own, with no direction home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.
Quote:Originally posted by 6ixStringJack: And if anybody thinks I'm being too mean, I don't give a shit. Their problem(s) all stem from the fact that NOBODY ever talked to them like this in their lives. They've never faced a real moment of adversity, EVER, and so they've spent their youth and young adulthood pulling controversy from out of the ether, being enraged vicariously through other people's plights... both real and imagined. Just doing whatever they could every day to get those quick dopamine hits from the approval of other equally lost people who thought they had all the answers to every question... mostly strangers online that they'll never meet and don't really care about other than the fact that they are all drug dealers for each other. And their biggest problem right now is that they're all hitting the wall and realizing that they never knew shit about shit at the exact same time that a large portion of the illusory world that $37 Trillion of US debt and counting has shrouded us all in is falling down. Lied to all of their lives about what the world really is and who the people who inhabit it really are, I'm actually quite concerned that a good deal of them do not have what it takes to survive the real world. Instead of rooting for huge American failures so their side can finally "win" again, I think they'd better start rooting for the current plans to pan out. Because if things really do go bad and America really does start to fail, they will find themselves in the very unenviable position of being the most vulnerable among the herd, literally overnight. Something that they never thought could happen and that they've never prepared for a single moment of their lives so far. Something that the very expensive piece of paper framed on their wall is not going to shield a good majority of them from. Good luck everybody. I think it would be in our own best interests if we can find a way to start rooting for the same team again, one way or another. -------------------------------------------------- "I don't find this stuff amusing anymore." ~Paul Simon
