When our first reaction is to apologize for our freedoms...

It's a good thing no apology was issued, then.

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."

As far as I know, there has never been any apology from the US for the movie or anything else involved in this issue. To view "we condemn this movie" as "we're sorry (for whatever?)" escapes me. Trying to put it in focus by remembering what that "ex-Republican" wrote makes some sense of it, but interpreting the word condemnation as something else still just doesn't make sense.

It makes sense if you see the bigger picture. The US has nothing TO be sorry for, in the first place. The govt did not endorse, fund, support, in any way, this pos 'film'.

The government also did not in any way "apologize" for anything. But don't let facts stand in the way of your feigned outrage.

Never apologize for that which isn't your fault. It IS a show of weakness. Especially in that part of the world. How YOU don't get this , really is beyond me.

Which part of the world? Libya specifically? Egypt exclusively? The entire mid-east region?

Are you claiming that Bush engaged in an intentional show of weakness by apologizing to Iraq?

First and foremost, we should be addressing the threat of force, the use of force by others. It should not be tolerated, at all, by any nation who wishes to be treated in a civil manner. Attack our embassy, kill our ambassador ? No more funding. Period.

So you're saying we shouldn't be using force against other nations. I get that. It's no way to treat someone if you want them to treat you in a civil manner.

Especially when you didn't "told ya so" in the first place. Careful you don't dislocate that shoulder patting yourself on the back for things you didn't do, son.

Actually, I did. In another thread, before this info came out.

Actually, you didn't. Nowhere in that thread did you say that this was cover for a military assault.

Must suck for you to see me proven right. Again.

So, you and I can agree on something, though beyond 'hinky', we probably part ways.

And I take it, that you since asked, and then were shown ,( both link and full quote ) that you're satisfied w/ my ' I told you so ' post ?

I suppose no response is a tacit vote of approval, in this case.

Yeah. Plus I think we've uncovered about as much as we're going to, and there's no telling when it'll all finally start to make sense or we can confirm anything.

Those 'details' are likely to start trickling out, bit by bit , after the November election. Certainly, some info will be available, after Jan 20th, but by then, who'll care ?

That's how the system works. Quickly shuffle the deck, and move on to the 'next' issue, and soon folks will forget about this. It's happening today, with the non-story of the 'revelation' of Romney's donor meeting comments, from last MAY.

But to the point, where I thought it was dubious, the claims that these attacks were spontaneous, and arouse on their own, out of the ether, over a video short, which first came out MONTHS ago... it's clear now that what the administration is claiming just isn't so.

According to the reporter who broke the video, he had to verify its authenticity before putting it out there for public consumption. Someone else had put it on YouTube prior to that, but it had not been vetted or verified.

I know you prefer people who just shoot their mouths off without having any of the salient facts, but some people actually like to confirm things first.

And the video has been confirmed, and Romney is making his apologies for what he said.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Rappy, I will never, ever agree with you, even on.... no, especially on.... something so trivial.

"WHY?", you ask???

It's because you'll take that meaningless fragment of a sentence, tag it to your signature line, and parade it around like some kind of triumph when everyone knows it is really only the torn end of a snot-rag. It's all part of YOUR syndrome, which might be called "cherry-picking" or "missing the forest for the trees" or any other way to describe a person who sees bits and pieces without ever seeing the bigger picture.
