The dwarf planet previously known as 2003 UB313 that was occasionally refer to by the nickname "Xena" has now officially been given a name: Eris (officially 136199 Eris).

Some info on Eris:

* It is named after the Greek goddess of strife whose Latin name is Discordia.
* It's the largest known dwarf planet in the solar system. (It's larger than Pluto.)
* It has a moon named Dysnomia.
* It and Dysnomia are currently the most distant known objects in the solar system.
* Its discovery is what lead the International Astronomical Union to finally define the term 'planet' more precisely.

I think I prefered Xena better, or maybe `planet Bob`.

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

I was hoping they'd name it "Fluffy".
