Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

http://www.ihatethemedia.com/boy-scouts-boo-obama

This story seems to be everywhere all of a sudden, though I can't view video from my current connection.

Anyone know anything about it?

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Apparently they booed his videotaped address to the Jamboree, breaking with tradition and upsetting the Boy Scouts in attendance.

And what a tradition it is: according to one Scout, "every president since Bill Clinton has made a speech at the national jamboree. Obama decided to skip this one at Fort AP Hill Virginia, for The View. All we got was a lousy recorded message."

Every President since Clinton, eh? That would be... Dubya Bush.

Maybe that's a tradition we don't need to keep up with. ;)

Fuck you, you cock sucking community activist piece of shit.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I believe that six presidents have attended this function in the past. However, booing a presidential address, even a videotaped one, made specifically to honor you, is rude.

No president is obligated to appear at these things. The boy scouts is ostensibly a private organization, which is why they are allowed to discriminate against people.

Never mind that they get government assistance in the form of free exclusive use of federal facilities.

Courteousness is a central tenet of the boyscout creed. Booing someone who takes the time to honor you in any way is not courteous.

Chalk this up with homophobia and gender discrimination as ways that the Boyscouts of America have disappointed me.

Like woman, I am a mystery.

I am ashamed that I was a Cub Scout. I didn't transfer over to the actual Boy Scouts following graduation because I wasn't really into the outdoor survivalist stuff even at that age. But doing research on what assholes the BSA are really troubled me and I was disgusted that I was apart of that organization, even on the most basic of entry levels.

Plus, they don't even sell cookies.

America loves a winner!

The big Zero snubbed the Scouts at their centennial Jamboree, which is something of a big deal. ( not just a run of the mill shindig, mind you )

Still, booing the Commander OF Chief sends a
poor message from the Scouts.

Even if it's this President.

And every President SINCE Clinton ? Meh..... from the perspective of a kid, 10 years is a long time. I get that. A video message prolly wold have been fine, but for the centennial celebration, most were expecting more. Silly them. They should know better.
