I find it rather satisfying that folks are seeing to their own defense rather than depending on the blue horde, especially as around here, they're just as likely to then victimize you AGAIN, especially for the heinous "crime" of self-defense, thus impugning their divine right to be the only ones allowed to.. yadda fuckin yadda.

And I mean seeing to their own defense in MORE than just packing some heat, neighborhoods have started banding, watching out for each other, taking up collections and hiring out contract security - which one really, REALLY poor neighborhood just managed by finding a loophole in Public Act 330-1968, which was written by the cops after the police riots to try to protect their monopoly FROM contract security, see, if the owner of a property directly hires someone to protect THAT property, then that person falls under persons exempted from this act, you see.

So they hired two brothers, who while decent guys, due to their rap sheets and lack of education, were scraping by on day labor (which is damn, DAMNED exploitive, mind you) just to get by - since they're exempted from the act, they don't have to meet any of the qualifications, and we donated a pair of uniform jackets for them, since the best the community can scrape up is minimum wage, which is still a hell of a lot better than you get from day labor after they get done fucking you at the register - the actual owner of the property signed off on it when the residents cornered his slumlord ass and made an "issue" of it with him, but it's the residents payin them, and it works out, cause the local yahoos are kinda scared of these two - they tried breakin into their place once and wound up exiting via the window...

It's been good for them too, although they came to me for a bit of counsel about how to go about interacting with the community, since for so long they've been more or less outcasts, and being regarded as PEOPLE again is kind of a new and trying experience for them.

Anyhow, it's workin out - always does once you remove God and Government from the process...

The local pizza guys actually like delivering here at Site Three, they know I'll spot the sign on top of the car and skitter over, watching their back from the shadows, and it's become protocol that if they cannot find an address, just flash the headlights twice and I'll be right over with a map for em - they know damn well they won't get robbed HERE, yanno ?

Yeah, I dunno what's with the negative. I guess he's trying to bring in more viewers for his sponsors because they expect news about the dystopia from PN.

Seems like a good way to loose viewers though to me. His readers aren't looking for fluffy stories about people looking out for an old lady, they're looking for stories about how to defend themselves from the police state.

Oh the terrible irony...

Night before last a pizza driver WAS robbed, at gunpoint, about a mile up the road here.
And left a message on my machine this morning expressing interest in CCW training, since he realized that when the perp took the money (and the pizza!) and left him with his hands on the car, back turned....
One twitch on the trigger, on the mere whim of someone who's already decided to disregard law and society, and he would be dead.

The notion of trusting in the mercy of someone who has already cast aside that much of their own humanity is idiotic, and as this occured to him the very first thing that came to his mind was our office phone number, so I will take pity on him - although this is gonna be a trick, since with my eyes as gone as they are now my shooting accuracy is embarassingly bad, but I can still teach the basics, I think.

Of course, with a Taurus Judge 4510 snubbie, loading #4 cube shot, I don't exactly need to drive tacks here, though seriously, the recoil and muzzle flash/bang is a stone BITCH with a barrel that short - but as they say, you should see the other guy!
