So Rick Santorum is outraged at the failures of Obama's stimulus package, claiming it only created - get this - TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY MILLION JOBS.

He was asked if he meant that, and he stood by those numbers.

This is the guy the conservatives want you to listen to about economics - the guy who can't do the simplest of math.

SANTORUM: [Obama] passed a huge stimulus package that now we know, over the past two quarters, has actually cost American jobs, and that’s from the report of his own administration. They claimed in December that, uh, by the end of last year that they created 280 million jobs, and now they’re saying that they created only 240 million jobs. So look, in this, you’re talking about huge increases in spending.

ALI VELSHI: Senator, I’m going to ask you to restate that, I’ve never heard that in my life. Tell me again, what you just said.

SANTORUM: If you look at the report that came out on Friday, the President’s own economic advisers said that the jobs stimulus package actually created fewer jobs over the period of time, since the uh, since the stimulus package went in place than it did when they reported back in December. In other words, there’s 30 million less jobs as a result of the stimulus package.

VELSHI: That’s not a loss of jobs, Senator, that’s a smaller aggregation of jobs. You can’t go on a campaign, a national campaign with this kind of math Senator. It’s just incorrect…I know you’ve got a lot of interviews to do. You might want to check that math.

"You might want to check that math," indeed. He's wrong on so many levels it's just hilarious.

Good find, Kwicko. Except the article left out the rest of the interview**:

ALI VELSHI: Senator, do you happen to know the population of America?

SANTORUM: *cricket* *cricket*

ALI VELSHI: About 300 million. So please tell me again, what you just said. And after that, we'll discuss "fewer" as opposed to "less."

He was tired.

Still not worse than 57 states. Every 1st grader knows that.

Or, at least, they use to. Not so sure any more.

"He was tired."

Crassic.

Still, he said Obama created 240 million jobs. By any measure, you'd have to call that a slam-dunk for Obama!

Unless you can name me any other President in our history who's ever created more jobs than that.

Of course, Rappy isn't very good at basic math, either - he stands by his claim that 95% of Americans pay no taxes!

But yeah, slipping up and saying "fifty-seven" instead of "forty-seven" really is so much worse than getting the job numbers wrong by a factor of a hundred.

I'm surprised you didn't bring the number of Muslim countries into this, Rappy. You usually do. (By the way, Obama's closer to the correct number of states than you are when you claim he's referring to the number of Muslim countries. Again, you're not so good with the maths, boy.)

I have no idea why Santorum is even in the race. I've heard him fill in for Bill Bennett's radio show, and I'm just not impressed.

He may be a decent enough guy, stand for the right things on some issues, but hell... President ? What, Gary Bauer was too busy ? Good grief.

That being said, I really am confused at the extremely harsh criticism that Santorum receives. IMO, the guy is fairly insignificant. The more you whack jobs on the Left attack him, the more attention he gets, where other wise no one would pay him any mind at all.

It's like if the GOP went full bore out and attacked Cynthia McKinney... I mean, she's her own worst PR ! So why would anyone even bother ?

At least Santorum is a fairly decent guy. Is that it ? Folks who are 'normal' and decent, get the most vitriol ?

Yeah, nobody would do that, would they?

Oh. Never mind. You've done that on more than a few occasions yourself, even attacking her father and blaming her for things he said.

Where's all that hate and vitriol come from?

You think Santorum's a decent guy, huh? I guess him equating being gay to bestiality makes perfect sense to you, eh?

*I* can and have blasted Cynthia because she was MY congresswoman. That's a far cry from the GOP going all out on a national level and doing a campaign against her.

And I justly mocked and ridiculed her father, for the actions HE did, threatening a fellow GA law maker with a knife, among other things.

Hate? Vitriol? It starts with the McKinney family.

And thanks for revealing where that vulgar term for Santorum came from. Knowing the Left and its penchant for lying and distorting comments from the Right, I can see now how some gay militant activist might have issues w/ this guy.

Likely answers that question.

Can you maybe show me where the entire Democratic party is "going all out on a national level and doing a campaign against" Rick Santorum?

I didn't think so.

I didn't realize you were part of the family. ;)

Did I say anything about where that term came from? Or are you just making up your own facts to fit your agenda again? Maybe you should go Google Santorum to see where it came from.

ETA: By the way, since you feel it's your right to attack Ms. McKinney because she's your representative, you'll have to concede that I have every right to attack pRick Perry, since he's my governor. Right?
