These murders and mutilations appear to be part of religious ritual sacrifices.

I know the source is biased and would like to attribute everything to devil worship, but it does link to various independent reports. I don't know how many of the reported details are true, but if any part is true, it is deeply disturbing.

Evil fucking bastards. Poor Ugandans. The shit never stops for them. First Idi Amin, then Obote, now Museveni (whom quite a few Africans call the Hitler of Africa). Then the LRA in Northern Uganda abducting 10's of thousands of children and murdering the rest of the families. Now this.

If you pray or meditate or reach out to the Universe/Force at all, think of Uganda tonight. If you don't, think of them tonight too.

What are the more official links? Because this is someone's religious blog, and I'm not about to give credence to anyone who says that non-Christians in Africa practice devil worship - they have no idea who the devil is unless they're either Muslim or Christian. In either case, therefore, not devil worship.

HOWEVER, there is quite a bit of awfulness that happens in Africa due to roving gangs, particularly some of the more militant arms of political groups.

And killing children is likely in tribal conflicts as well.

I would suspect this is what's actually being discussed: the actual religion of the perpetrating group is being obfuscated because the Christian writing the blog doesn't want to believe other Christians are capable of this.

Right...the interpretation of "devil worship" is highly questionable, but the reports of finding hundreds of mutilated bodies of children comes from multiple sources (click on the links to Sunday Vision, All Africa March, Xinhua, etc.). The multiple sources are linked at the site, which is why I linked to this religious blog. They're a bit "off" maybe, but they got all the links on one page.

I honestly could not find the links, are they at the very bottom or something? I only was willing to scroll about half-way down the page before I gave up looking for links because the amount of anti-Christian rhetoric on the page was getting to me.

I mentioned LRA in my first post, after Idi Amin and Museveni. I know well who they are.

But this is different. LRA kills and mutilates out in the open, being unofficially sanctioned by Museveni and all. They have their M.O. They often force new children to do their killing. They are crude thugs. They don't carefully carve out specific body parts. No, this is a new thing.

I am NOT saying these mutilations are devil worship or religious rituals.

(Again, I linked to that site cause it seemed like a convenient depot of links at the time. Now I am sorry I used it because it appears to have prejudiced you against the content of the stories.)

When one reads the news, one has to "sift" out the bias and focus on the facts. Unless all these sources are flat out inventing the facts, the fact is there are hundreds of mutilated bodies of children showing up in Uganda, that bear a new MO other than that of the LRA.

There are new players in town, so to speak. People will speculate on who they think it is. Ultimately, we don't know unless we have more information.

But I seriously doubt it is the LRA.

Oh, I agree it's happening. I discounted the news sources not because I didn't recognize them but because the first one I clicked on was more gargle about African "devil worship" and the second I clicked on the only text available said something like "We will remember wht happened here and we will restore our nation ok!!!!!"

Well, organ trafficking wouldn't be unexpected. And you'll notice the wikipedia link did mention "mutilation."

I did do some digging and I found this. There's some sacrifice, something to do with some folk superstitions. But there's also organ trafficking, it's possible the two are related.

I've heard of the practise of muti in parts of Africa, where body parts are used for healing. In fact the furst book in The Number 1 Ladies Detectives Agency series was about muti and child deaths.

Sure. But I've been following the LRA for a while, and well, their mutilations are more...boorish. These sound very specific, more like...organ harvesting.

I would amend my previous doubt about the LRA. The LRA is a bunch of people. It could be that a new faction has risen within the LRA which enjoys doing organ harvesting. Maybe they are diversifying.

All I mean to say is this is not their usual MO. But of course, it is still possible it is them.

Yep. It sounds like they are either harvesting for superstition/ritual or harvesting for transplantation. Or both.

The BBC article makes a good point about the under-reporting and how the cops are in effect accomplices by omission.

Could be a new faction, but I guess I kind of figured that if someone is already doing something abhorrent, it's easier for them to take the next step down and do something worse.

The LRA despite practicing Christianity also believe in some local rituals and mysticism, I wouldn't put it past them being involved or even be the necessary spark behind this whole thing starting. (In the very least, their actions would make a convenient cover for other people to hide something like this) However, for some reason or another the rich elite in that country have also got involved in it, so we basically have two ugly groups opposed to each other and a lot of poor and defenseless people in the middle.

I want to go into the corner and vommit now. Then I want to go torture these people, then I will procede to vommit some more afterword.

This is rut nasty to the extreme. Human sacrifice is something I hate with passion. But whatever the reason for this stuff is, its disgusting. Yeah Uganda has had so much trouble. For a while I thought things were improving, I remember hearing some promising things a while back, when I was in high school, eight to ten years ago, but apparently its all gone back to pot now.

I know it probably isn't technically devil worship, but it might as well be if they're doing this to kids. Just sayin. I have some strong feelings about this.

I saw an expose about how somewhere in Africa they chop off the limbs of albinos and use them for things, yucky creepy. And when they do it it is easy for the people to die because its out in the country/bush and so there aren't enough doctors around and so infection can set in etc. It was a horrid story, but this stuff has to be talked about or else no one can do anything to stop it.

This kind of stuff matters a lot. I think that most people figure they can't do anything about it so its not worth paying much attention to. I didn't actually vommit, ideas don't literally make me throw up, but I kind of wished I could because that is pretty vommit worthy.

Whatever the reason behind such things is its still not okay, as we've all said here.
