Awesome. Although, I notice their average temperature is about 20 degrees hotter than our average temperature.

So... Tropical planet, I guess. With maybe some uninhabitable equator zones.

We'll have to see what the atmospheric analysis suggests, because where liquid water CAN exist is not always where the water zone around the protoplanetary disk was.

I'm still holding out hope for Gliese581d, or perhaps HD 85512b.

Cause, yanno, real estate is all about location, and besides that oddball coherent light signal makes me wonder...

Of course, we'd have to have the tech to GET there, and the current powers that be are very very VERY much *against* the notion of us being out of the reach of their guns and laws, for reasons I've already discussed.

We're gettin' there.

As for how to actually *get* there, I here that BP and halliburton have a plan to build a wormhole.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

600 light years to 'Earth that will be' ? Funny thing is, in order to get to that level of technology, we could easily colonize Mars and a couple of moons in our solar system, well before we leave to settle planets in other systems.

Well, just as long as the big federal gubmint doesn't spend any money on it, right?

Rap,

good point. OTOH, it could be in smaller numbers.
1000 on mars, but later a million on some place more habitable.

Hey! politicks out of my happy space dream!

How are you planning on supporting them? On whose dime?

Oh deities. They can't even plug a borehole.

Whelp, been nice knowing you. Gotta prepare for the complete breakdown of the laws of physics and the inevitable invasion of abominations from outside time and space.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Oh shit; here I thought this was about the short-lived TV series "Earth 2". Oh well. I won't be around long enough to care, so I'll just wish everyone younger well and go on about my business.
