"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

At some point, one has to cease calling these slip-ups "gaffes" and start acknowledging that they are an indicator of a profound lack of knowledge on Mr. Perry's part.

Meanwhile, there's always this:

Rick Perry wanted an ad to go viral. This one did. It went viral like Captain Trips, and has now far surpassed Rebecca Black's "Friday" as the most disliked YouTube video in history.

And to make matters worse for Perry, the ad's not even a little bit true.

Perry's screw up on the age for voting reminds me of the jokes sometimes told at election time. Neal Boortz, in particular, has reminded his audience, in times of high predicted voter turn out, the different parties will be having their votes cast on different days. Republicans should show up and vote on Tuesday, as usual, and Democrats are to vote on Wednesday.

Amazingly, some still fall for this sort of stunt, not getting the humor. Oh well.

Oh, I get the humor. The funniest part here is that Perry tried to bamboozle his own supporters, hoping to get Republicans to come to the polls a week late to vote for him.

And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some of them fall for it.

Amazing that Perry keeps wining in Texas, huh?

Yes; apparently he is quite the lush, perhaps even a drunkard. It would explain much about his campaign, really. ;)

I've got a soft spot for the Friday song myself. It always makes me think of my favorite cousins because I saw it with them, so as rediculous as it may be it has happy associations for me.

Over the weekend Perry decried the government giving loan guarantees to "the country of Solyndra".

I wonder if he could point it out on a map...

Hahaha. Country, corporation, they are nearly the same things. Sovereign entities that get huge amounts of money from US taxpayers.

I wonder if he would have decried the loan had he known it was a corporation. Hehe.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Just as a point of information; the different days for voting was USED in Florida as a tactic to keep those who generally voted Democrat from having their votes counted. It was done as a robo call, and was reported after the election. It wasn't a joke.
Quote:

Another way in which misinformation can be used in voter fraud is to give voters incorrect information about the time or place of polling, thus causing them to miss their chance to vote. One such example occurred in August 2011 when Americans for Prosperity, a Republican-leaning political advocacy group funded by David H. Koch and Charles G. Koch of Koch Industries, distributed fliers in Democrat-leaning Wisconsin districts which advised voters to send in their votes two days after the election deadline.
That's one of the other similar tactics that was used, too.

Didn't we already go around on the "prayer in schools" thing? For me it's just the usual bullshit, but telling...

Oh, yeah; here it is: http://beta.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=50412
