Yanno, ain't the bills they fight about which concern me, so much as the ones that slip through in the darkness, beyond the smoke and mirrors, when no one is looking.

Bullshit like this, for example.
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr4133/text

I'm really, really sick of us being exploited so immensely by a foreign power that treats us like an enemy and spits in our face even as we impoverish and rob our own to support their genocidal aims.

But even in the midst of such darkness, there are still little triumphs, watching Rep Amash get verbally excoriated over this was hopeful, but it was one tiny thing, one small thing, which really struck me.

Normally this bill woulda passed 412-1, and we all know who that 1 would be, right ?
This time around, 411-2.

One of those was, always and of course, Ron Paul.
Know who the other was ?
John Dingell.

There's REASONS I support the ole Dingbat, you know.

BYTEMITE

It's nice to see there's actually a few people in government who don't automatically approve of more military spending. But it's all drowned out by the warhawks.

EDIT:

(6) As a result, the strategic environment that has kept Israel secure and safeguarded United States national interests for the past 35 years has eroded.

Eroded?! It was never there in the first place! These people are just fekkin' delusional!

DREAMTROVE

Okay, that's bad. I don't worry about the US devoting too many resources towards defending Israel, I'm in favor of defending Israel, as you know. I worry about the IDF making terror lists heretics or of people who oppose their own private sector ventures of which they have quite a few. What happens in the holyland should stay in the holyland. There's a reason the US isn't a theocracy, I mean, err., wasn't a theocracy.
Quote:

(1) To reaffirm the enduring commitment of the United States to the security of the State of Israel as a Jewish state.
...
(5) To pursue avenues to expand cooperation with Israel in both defense and across the spectrum of civilian sectors, including high technology, agriculture, medicine, health, pharmaceuticals, and energy.

Yes, we just tied ourselves into a full social union with a theocracy. The IDF has been jonesing for some years to get full open access to all US intelligence mechanisms so it can just police the USA directly and remove its opponents.

Two of those opponents have just labeled themselves as soon to be former members of the US congress.

Oh, and I really don't want the IDF setting energy policy in the US after they were found skulking about pennsylvania recording lists of names of anti-frackers.
