Both of which can have economic easement, via minimum wage standards or interest rate manipulation by the Fed. But there are no solutions to this without completely dismantling the economy - that's just how this all works.

(I actually see positives in scrapping this system and starting over, but I have no real preference for a course of action)

As for tax breaks for women that far outbalance that they're paid .73 less on the dollar - cites please.

I'm in favor of scrapping the system too... Building barriers to the north and south and propping our aircraft carriers on our east and west ocean barriers and saying "GOOD LUCK!" to everyone else. Better medicine than anything our global economy will accomplish down the road when we're all wage slaves.

I can't give you proof about "women". All I can do is speak what I know. There are zero white men in any full time and/or management position at my store. Out of 160 employees, only 19 are full time. 17 of them are white females. 2 of them are black males. (Seems that when the white-woman store manager was tipping the scales toward equality, she forgot to add black women on her token management dole).

In the mean time, as I've said before, 2/5ths of my yearly income here goes to income and property taxes, leaving me with under 5k a year to pay for monthly bills, groceries, gas for the car and any piddly self-indulgence that money allows.

I've looked into "food stamps". Being a single guy in my situation, I'd get less than 20 bucks a month for food. Sure... it's probably worth the minutes per month to get this going, but I'm not going to put myself in that "needy" class for little more than what it would cost me to buy one case of beer a month. Not to mention that A) you get a 2k deductible on your FED income taxes per child and B) if you're anywhere near my poverty level the "Earned Income Credit" rises exponentially for every kid you have.

Granted, this might not "exactly" be a "woman" thing, but since the Government seems to automatically give full custody to the Mom even if the Dad is a much better person, forgive me for extrapolating on that concept.....

No worries to you Byte.....

You're the female equivalent of me. Though I may have been making more than you would in my last position, it's pretty hard to go any further down than I have now. I'm pretty sure between our ornery outlook on life and our way-under-our-skillset positions in life that we're just about even now.

Much love

In 1980, gas was about a buck a gallon. Minimum wage was $3.10. I was making $9 an hour.

Seems wages haven't kept pace with gas price increases. Since we've already established that there's no gas shortage in the U.S., it sounds like somebody's gouging us to make more profits.

Maybe you should complain to the oil companies. Or do what I did, and get a cheap, reliable econo-car that gets more than 30mpg. My "complaint" to the oil industry is to use less of their product. When demand falls, prices generally follow. It's an economic principle or something. ;)

Believe it or not, I'm not insinuating anything... I'm especially not insinuating that minimum wage should be raised. I might be making minimum wage now, but I know the second that happens everything else just raises in price. When I WAS making good money I hated minimum wage hikes. All that meant for me was that I was making that much less over minimum wage, and that prices at all the stores would go up.

I have a Camry. Sure, it's a mid 90's Camry with electrical issues so I've had to up the idol on it to get it to not die at stop lights. It gets about 17mpg, which is much less than it should be getting, but I'm not exactly in the market to buy a new car at the moment, so it sure beats my 8mpg LTD 4 years ago.

At the same time, I live 4 blocks from work. I haven't walked it during the winter, but I rarely drive my car during the good months. Even with the low MPG for the Camry, I would estimate my yearly driving to be about 600-1,000 Miles. If I lived by family/friends, it would be a lot less, but I had to move out of state over the border to save 3-4k a year on property taxes. The extra 300 bucks a year I spend on visiting them is a drop in the bucket.

You should look into resetting the ECU. I'd bet it's not so much an electrical issue as a sensor issue - O2 sensors are one of the most common failures on OBD-1 and "OBD-0" cars. Also, look into cleaning out the throttlebody, since it's almost certainly gunked up.

I'll look into that. I have to do it myself since I can't afford to even tell the guy I knew to try to fix it.

I don't mind learning new things and fixing them.

I'm also not at all above asking non friendlys for advice about things I don't know about. Anyone who isn't actively an enemy is a potential friend....

Here's the trouble, as far as I know......

BEFORE I MANUALLY "UPPED" THE IDOL......

The car would die at stop signs and stop lights. This seemed to happen regardless of temp or humidity for the most part, but happened more often than not in seriously cold weather (although it only happened one winter before I "UPPED the idol")

Before I made the change, my car would constantly die at a stoplight right after I got off the expressway going anywhere near 80mph for a long time. Throwing the car in neutral like an old car wouldn't save it. I learned to ride both the gas and brake pedals with 2 feet to counteract this when it happened. The alternative was being stuck on the road for about 20 seconds before I could start the car back up while people were honking at me.

If I pull into a parking lot and turn my car off, it has always acted right if I start it up one minute later.

After "upping' my idol, the ONLY time I experience this is when I've been on the Expressway for a long time going fast. If I keep it at 60MPH I'm cool. Anything over that, I risk stalling at the first stop off the freeway.

Before I upped my idol, it would happen any time.

Sure, I only get about 17-18MPG now, but it beats stalling at any light I stop at.

I haven't stalled in over a year now, but it's pretty nerve wracking to put two feet on the pedals to keep the car idling high enough that it doesn't die at a stop.

If you got an answer, great for you......

Nobody else has figured it out. Hell..... I've never been able to make it do what I'm talking about while anyone who could fix problems was actually in the car....

So by your own admission, you're basing what you "know" off of what you hear on the radio. On that basis, I submit that a big-legged woman ain't got no soul.

Yes, on the issue of how the media reports the news, it's significant to actually pay attention to the media and how it reports the news.

A bit much for your small mind to comprehend, I suppose.
