" The gun was made on a 3D printer that cost $8,000 (£5,140) from the online auction site eBay."

Pretty sure murder with a DL'd gun would be every bit as illegal as with a real one, while costing lots lots more.

This hysteria about guns, instead of the sick individuals who'd commit murder with them, really is baffling.

I think I saw an episode of MythBusters where they fired a 'home made' pistol, and it worked out just fine. Forget the particulars, but I bet it cost cheaper to make than even a moderately priced handgun, which only sell for a few hundred dollars. A 'printer' cost 8grand, plus the material... I doubt Cletus and Joe Bob trailer park will have very much interest in making a 3D copy of a gun, when they can fashion one of their very own, for a fraction of the cost.

Yeah, but it does need that $ 8,000 printer to make one. I just caught a video over on YouTube: a guy made a workable one shot shotgun out of 3 bucks worth of black iron pipe fittings and wood dowel, in one evenings work, using a Dremel moto-tool.

I made my first zip gun at 10, with about 20$ in parts. Give this 10 years and it might be worth something.

I do like that they picked the name "Liberator" for it. There ARE parts of this country under Nazi control.

Might be time to take them back.

Don't worry, Obama's Operation Fast & Furious is still giving 1000s of assault weapons to the Mexican Mafia and 1000s of surface-to-air missiles to Al Qaeda.
