Thanks Rap for posting that video. It really shows just how clueless the blithering idiots who report the news truly are.

But really, thanks for the mention of Mickey Rooney's passing. Since I became a Turner Classic Movie addict 20 years ago, I've seen a lot of his movies and learned a lot about his career and life. Mickey could do it all. Act in comedies, act in dramas. He sang. He danced. He could play every instrument in the band. Truly a remarkably gifted talent. He was also a great patriot. He and close friend Judy Garland appeared together for years doing USO shows and greeting U.S. soldiers at the Hollywood Canteen during WWII. I love his Andy Hardy movies. He was great in National Velvet with child star Elizabeth Taylor. He appeared in a classic Twilight Zone episode. He was hilarious in It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

It was during one of his career slumps that he made my personal favorite Mickey Rooney movie.... a little-known low-budget "B" movie called Platinum High School. He played a father seeking answers about his son's death at a military academy. It co-starred Yvette Mimieux and Richard Jaeckel.

R.I.P. Mr. Rooney

Ya know what's sad? I knew his name, and have seen many of the things he did. He was a truly obnoxious Puck in Midsummers Nights Dream.

What rock did they drag these people out from under????

I also used to watch "The Adventures of the Black Stallion" when I was a kid and he was in it... :(

Seems a lot of the old stars made it to 90. I'm amazed he made it, he didn't look like he was in great health back in the eighties. Odd looking dude, to be sure...

I get it. Old guy dies. Named Rooney. Mickey, Andy... what ever. But damn! Andy Rooney died 2 1/2 frelling YEARS ago !!!

And we're suppose to TRUST these idiots to keep US informed ??

What REALLY would have been funny is if some one had slipped in a farewell to ED Rooney.

THIS right here is an example of the chain of command mentality that ALSO runs the government. THIS is the WMD crap. Someone says it, and it becomes a useful repetitive thing. No checking, no double-checking.
"These idiots" are EVERYWHERE.
And you're gonna trust 'some' of them. The ones on your 'side'.
You frelling fool.

I thought of Mickey Rooney as a legendary film icon, a national treasure, but apparently he's not even worthy of the news getting his name right. They're too busy drooling over Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift to bother. At least Channel 49 (TCM) will do an appropriate tribute to the man.

Figures you'd miss the point to jump on your perpetual soap box, Chrissy.

The " News " isn't centrally located, or the seat of power for a nation. At least, it's not SUPPOSE to be. These are supposedly independent organisms, unto their own selves, right ? Each news company, each news desk, what ever, giving out the info THEY collected and proof read, for the public's consumption. And yet, they ALL made the same glaring mistake.

And there are MANY more examples of this sort of thing, going back at least as far as the 2000 election.

Remember Cheney and " gravitas " ?

It may not be a conspiracy, where the smoking man is sending out copy to all the news agencies, but hell, it at least is a sure sign of group think.

My soapbox is built upon Human stupidity & authoritarian mediocrity. Geniuses work for NASA & achieve results. All others work in service industries or government.

That's fairly ludicrous. BTW, NASA owes all its early glory to captured Nazis who built the V-1 and V-2 rockets using slave labor, which unleashed death by the thousands to innocent civilians in Great Britain.

"Rooney's personal life, including his frequent trips to the altar, has proven to be just as epic as his on-screen performances. . . . Ironically, after eight failed marriages he has never looked or felt better and has finally found happiness and peace in the single life. . . . Mickey Rooney was survived by a large and growing family including his eight living children, two step-children, nineteen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren." - www.imdb.com/name/nm0001682/bio

I didn't see any news programs in there. All of those networks got rid of thier news programming long ago, everything is run by their entertainment divisions. Didn't see real news, like FNC in there.
