I swear, to my ears, nothing he said sounded remotely harsh, angry or defiant. He simply spoke the truth ! I know fundies LOVE to toss that word around " TRUTH ", but seriously, do the words " Glory to God in all things " really give any comfort to parents who lose lose a bright, boisterous, happy child to some heartless disease like cancer ??

What fraking good EVER comes from that ??? What, research to CURE said cancer ???

Frak that ! It's all total bullshit ! Might as well saw the head off some non believer and praise Allah !

I would argue with Stephen Fry. He is acting as if he never heard of "The Problem of Evil". As old as Fry is, he should know better.

The Problem of Evil is formulated like this:
Is he {Deity} willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil?

An alternative formulation for The Problem: Where does evil come from then, seeing that God, who is good, has created all these things good? -- Augustine, Confessions.

You can metaphorically think of The Problem as finding All the Zeros of a Polynomial which has many solutions (including the trivial solution that there is no God) but consult wiki for "The Problem of Evil". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Problem_of_evil#Denial_of_absolute_omnisc
ience.2C_omnipotence.2C_omnibenevolence

What is this crap about Zeros of a Polynomial? What does that got to do with anything about God? Like finding all the zeros, "The Problem of Evil" can have billions of wrong answers about God, several for every person who ever lived. But there can be 5 or 6 correct and completely separate answers, including, once again, the trivial answer that there is no God, which is just one of the correct answers. Here is the math crap: www.purplemath.com/modules/solvpoly.htm

there are lots of srguments religious people use to reconcile the paradox of existence of evil and a loving all powerful god.

If you do not believe in a loving all powerful god, all these arguments are pointless,
