Jared Kushner Used Private Email In Trump Administration, Lawyer Confirms

"Mr. Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business," Lowell said in the statement.

Emails have been a central theme for Kushner's father-in-law, President Trump, who has repeatedly said that Democratic rival Hillary Clinton should face federal criminal charges over her use of private email while serving as secretary of State.

Not like the 10's of 1000's that Hillary destroyed.

And he's certainly not the head of a Cabinet level positon, while trading pay-for-play favors with heads of state or large international corporations.

NPR.
This is where you fail.

What is the big deal? Democraps are allowed to violate any law they choose, including use of emails - didn't you get the memo? Feeling left out of your Libtard crony circle jerk? Every body in the Trump Family has been Democrap since they were born - Jared couldn't even vote for The Donald in the Primaries, remember? So he gets the Democrap Free Pass, the Libtard immunity.

And what does your claim mean, anyway? He's using a WHITE HOUSE email to conduct WHITE HOUSE business, for the WHITE HOUSE, right?
It's not like he's using an address like Monica's_Ex-Boyfriend's_Estranged_Wife@joeschmucatelli'sclosetserver.org to conduct illegal Secretary of State cash transactions, right? That would be different.

I was wondering about that myself. The quote from the article actually says that he was using White House email to conduct White House business?

Does the article really say that this is wrong? Are they just throwing out sensational headlines now to see if people looking for something to bitch about will scream and yell even when the article itself says nothing bad at all?

If that's what really happened here than I tip my hat to you NPR.

Yes, agreed...IT IS A NOTHING BURGER! Powell did it, so did Condi Rice.
The legality of this situation was brought up and questioned by Trump, who, in his own loveable way, exaggerated the seriousness of the emails Hillary communicated with.

In other words, it was he who put the legality of the practice in the forefront. And now, ironically so, his family are doing exactly the same thing. What hypocrites! And in case you or any of our illustrious RWED members care to persist on Hillary's guilt in the matter; remember the FBI investigated and found nothing illegal in the thousands of emails. Otherwise she would be locked up; as would Jared and company, if ever it was found to have been handled in an illegal manner. Also, all it takes is one illegal or mishandled email to be charged, convicted and locked up.

Now think carefully before you respond.

Here's the full statement from Kushner's attorney, Abbe Lowell:

"Mr. Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business. Fewer than a hundred emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account. These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal, rather than his White House, address. All non-personal emails were forwarded to his official address and all have been preserved in any event."

I don't think anybody in any government position should be using their work email addresses to conduct personal business. It just goes to show the hubris of these people that work in the public sector.

There was no way in hell that I was going to use the company email to send personal messages at my last good job. It was a well known fact that all emails sent within the company were subject to monitoring and that some people had been fired simply for sending "inappropriate" things. One of the managers had been fired while I worked there for sending one of these things to a female co-worker. They were friends. She didn't go to anybody and complain, and actually she was really messed up about it when he was fired. It was probably some random check that was done on emails that got him... or maybe somebody had it out for him for some reason...

I agree that anybody using their work emails in any public sector position for personal use should be punished.

Hillary did a lot more than that though. Assuming that all was done here was sending a personal email with the work account, trying to equate one to the other is not a valid argument.

In my (govt) job, it's against policy to use your (govt-provided) email for personal business.

I have to say, I heard a bit of this on NPR, the part that I heard was "a hundred emails" "mostly to establish communication" and at that point I stopped listening. It sounded like a big nothing-burger, even on NPR.

Oh, THUGR, do you mean the double standard where people get apoplectic about less than a hundred emails ... because The law is the law! (not even sure any laws were broken*) .... but fail to criticize Hillary for much worse? (Yanno, like "wiping" a server after being subpoenaed.)

You mean THAT double standard?

Yes, you have indeed demonstrated it!

Not only that, you demonstrated that your reading comprehension is STILL not up to par!

* What I got out of the article was ... "All non-personal emails were forwarded to his official address." In other words, somebody sends you an email to the wrong address. You direct them to the correct address and forward their email to the correct address. Sounds like good protocol to me.

No, you really can't.

WASHINGTON — At least six of President Trump’s closest advisers occasionally used private email addresses to discuss White House matters, current and former officials said on Monday.

The disclosures came a day after news surfaced that Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and adviser, used a private email account to send or receive about 100 work-related emails during the administration’s first seven months. But Mr. Kushner was not alone. Stephen K. Bannon, the former chief White House strategist, and Reince Priebus, the former chief of staff, also occasionally used private email addresses. Other advisers, including Gary D. Cohn and Stephen Miller, sent or received at least a few emails on personal accounts, officials said.

**********************************************************************
Ivanka Trump, the president’s elder daughter, who is married to Mr. Kushner, used a private account when she acted as an unpaid adviser in the first months of the administration, Newsweek reported Monday. Administration officials acknowledged that she also occasionally did so when she formally became a White House adviser. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter with reporters.

**********************************************************************

Officials are supposed to use government emails for their official duties so their conversations are available to the public and those conducting oversight. But it is not illegal for White House officials to use private email accounts as long as they forward work-related messages to their work accounts so they can be preserved.

Not that it matters, SHE HAS NO BUSINESS ADVISING ANYONE IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

First, I was agreeing with you guys!

So, let's see, exactly where did I misunderstand:

Quote:

The quote the OP put in the article was that he used a White House email address to conduct White House business.

Then his attorney went on to say:

Quote:

Fewer than a hundred emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account.

"...his personal email account"

Then:

Quote:

when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal, rather than his White House, address.

But apparently he complied with government rules by:

Quote:

emails were forwarded to his official address and all have been preserved in any event."

So he did use a personal email address for government business. Now, once Mueller concludes his investigation, we will find out if any laws were broken. If no laws were broken, he'll walk around as free as Hillary.

How can you honestly equate the two, SGG?

I agree that if they are using government emails to conduct personal business that is a problem. There is nothing here that comes close to what Hillary did. Comey himself said that she broke the law, but they weren't looking to press charges because she didn't intentionally break it. Anybody else would have had their ass nailed to the wall under those circumstances.

This current issue will not be used as a get out of jail free card for Hillary.

This wasn't because of Trump and the campaign either. They were investigating Hillary for this before Trump even started running.

So I basically jumped to conclusions and found Jared guilty before any evidence can be properly investigated. And I'm basically chanting "lock him up" before the FBI has had a chance to review the documents in question.

Hmph, where have I seen that before?

So, if it's a NOTHING BURGER for Trump, then it is so for Hillary.

I don't care what the original story says. The point is they all use unauthorized e-mail addresses, that is MY POINT.

It seems that there are others who think along those lines as well:

Quote:

James Norton, a former senior homeland security official during the George W. Bush administration, said private accounts pose security risks — a criticism often raised against Mrs. Clinton.

“These private email accounts become targets of phishing attacks or other types of ways of collecting information,” he said. “It’s an issue not only for the person who owns that account, but the person who is receiving the emails. It is introducing risk into the system.”

Richard W. Painter, a chief White House ethics lawyer under Mr. Bush who is now the vice chairman of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a watchdog group, said that there is often a “gray area” over what is considered official business. But, he said, “If it has anything to do with the president’s policy, including defending the president’s policy to the press, it’s very difficult to escape that being official.”

“I think Kushner was sloppy to do this,” he said. “I think Hillary was sloppy. I don’t think any of it was criminal.”

The private email accounts immediately triggered questions in Congress. Representative Trey Gowdy, Republican of South Carolina, who was among those who most vociferously criticized Mrs. Clinton’s email use, sent a letter to the White House and federal agencies asking about the Trump administration’s personal email use.

Representative Elijah E. Cummings, the senior Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, asked the White House to make sure that none of Mr. Kushner’s emails are deleted.

Mr. Cummings noted that Trump administration officials had previously said that senior White House officials did not use multiple email accounts. And he reminded the White House about the grilling that Mrs. Clinton received from congressional Republicans over her email practices.

Both political parties have fought for years over the use of private email accounts. Long before Mrs. Clinton’s emails were a campaign issue, Democrats criticized members of the George W. Bush administration for the practice.

But, of course, according to our fellow FFF.net contributors, we are comparing apples and oranges.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Let me quote WISHY

Quote:

Officials are supposed to use government emails for their official duties so their conversations are available to the public and those conducting oversight. But it is not illegal for White House officials to use private email accounts as long as they forward work-related messages to their work accounts so they can be preserved.
This was from the NYT.

Now, from the NPR article ...

Quote:

White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner has used both a private email account and an official email address to communicate with other government officials, according to his attorney. Responding to media reports about Kushner's email habits, his lawyer said, "All non-personal emails were forwarded to his official address."

So, what's the problem? I think the more we find out about this, the less and less there will be of this story. In fact, it's already disappeared from the MSM, probably because they realized it was a nothing-burger. If there had been a tidbit of impropriety about it, the MSM would have been after it like a terrier after a rat.

They all do it and now they DEFINITELY KNOW THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE. There is NO EXCUSE for the stupidity NOW.

Big big difference between a WH underling using a private ACCOUNT for a 100 or so e-mails , fully disclosing them, and the SecState, hiding her own, private server, in her own home, with minimal security ( which got hacked ) and allowing foreign unfriendlies access to 1000's of top secret documents, e-mails and the addresses to god who knows , lying about it to Congress, destroying govt property, etc, etc, etc...

What is the source of your "Quote" there?
Out of context cherry-picked phrases carefully selected, edited, kludged together by another of your fake news factories, again?
Really, again?

Wait a second - Elijah Cummings? You must be joking. Not even you could be clueless enough to actually quote that gasbag and conjure anybody would take you seriously!
