MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted U.S. ally King Salman of Saudi Arabia for talks at the Kremlin this week, cementing a relationship that is pivotal for world oil prices and possibly signaling a shift in Middle East politics.

Salman, the first sitting Saudi monarch ever to visit Russia, led a delegation to Moscow bringing with him investment deals worth several billion dollars, providing much-needed investment for a Russian economy battered by low oil prices and Western sanctions.

Saudi Arabia said it signed a memorandum of understanding on the purchase from Russia of S-400 air defense systems. That marked a shift for the kingdom, which buys most of its military supplies from the United States and Britain.

Because they will probably twist the Saudi monarch's arm, over time, to desist from using their oil-funded terrorist/ al Qaeda/ ISIS proxies to take over the ME. Just look at how fast Erdogan pulled HIS horns in, once the USA attempted a coup against him and he realized that he had no options left but to suck up to Russia. Now, all of the sudden, Erdogan is no longer supplying ISIS in Syria with oil-laundering services, weapons, fighters, money, and medical aid.

You still don't "get" the fact that the USA is tacitly and actively supporting terrorism in the ME, fighting it with one hand and supplying it with two, don't you?

Enough Jack, you can't be American. The list of threads and posts showing you backing SIGS hate against the west is far to long. Trump must surely be the most contemptible excuse for a human being currently polluting planet Earth. A peace-loving man planning to get married has just been butchered inside a Saudi Arabian Consulate while his fiancee waited outside.Trump's immediate reaction was to defend Khashoggi's butchers, without even one word of token sympathy for his fiancee

Let's not forget that Israel is a big suck-up to Saudi Arabia, and vice versa.

Quote:

Israel and Saudi Arabia: What's shaping the covert 'alliance'
To all intents and purposes, Saudi Arabia and Israel are de facto allies in the struggle against Iran's rising influence in the region. It's a developing but highly sensitive relationship, but every so often there is a hint of what may be going on beneath the surface.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-42094105

Not hearing much outrage from Israel on the killing of Khashoggi either. They're treating this as a "strategic problem" for their joint anti-Iran program.

There's a lot going on beneath the surface.

Not too long ago, the M$M was hailing MBS as a visionary, moderate reformer. This latest M$M turnabout blitz is definitely NOT a case of reacting to Saudi's human-rights violations; if it were, they would have been on top of Saudi war crimes in Yemen years ago.

Right now, the only thing I'm detecting is a joint program between the deep state and the M$M to put Trump in a vise. I know I've mentioned this before, but the interpretation that makes the most sense to me is that MBS was Trump's anti-deep-state guy in Saudi Arabia. I'm sure you've been aware that MBS ran roughshod over a number of the other Royal Family (many of them connected to the CIA, the Bush family, and/or the Clintons), killed a few of them, kidnapped and extorted many of them; and that there was an attempted coup against him not too long ago.

The problem is that MBS is a very unworthy ally: Not only is he a probable psychopath, he's a STUPID psychopath and started a war in Yemen (which is going very badly) and a blockage against Qatar (a major USA ally). I wouldn't be surprised if he had Khashoggi killed ... In a Saudi consulate, no less! How stupid is THAT?? ... and I'll bet that right now the Trump administration is scrambling for a solution.

A few possible responses:

1) MBS/Trump allies (are there any?) in the Royal Family will put up someone else to take MBS' place

2) They'll dump it on some underling's shoulders.

Do you know what the relationship is between Russia and Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia is investing in Russia and Russia is selling them defensive weapons (supposedly. Hasn't happened yet)

Do you know what OUR relationship is with Saudi Arabia? I'll give you one example, in Yemen: Not only do we sell them arms and repair their systems, we operate radar systems and give them sat Intel and provide targeting data. Now THAT is a close relationship!!

Six days after Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi disappeared, U.S. President Donald Trump tried to play down the crisis, saying “hopefully that will sort itself out”.

I have been wondering. It's OK for Hilliary to kill Vince Foster, and BJ to kill off Ron Brown, both while residing in the White House, but there should be outrage over a quasi-pseudo-journalist being killed in Turkey while Trump is POTUS?

FWIW on a number of analysis reports I was casually listening to, all the journalists were snickeringly referring to Khashoggi as CIA. Khashoggi isn't an innocent victim. And the CIA - one of the more blatant members of the Deep State - was quick to lay the blame on MBS. MBS, as an anti-CIA tool, however, is deeply, deeply flawed. Well, I guess you go into war with the army you have.

U.S. Cyberattack Hurt Iran’s Ability to Target Oil Tankers, Officials Say

WASHINGTON — A secret cyberattack against Iran in June wiped out a critical database used by Iran’s paramilitary arm to plot attacks against oil tankers and degraded Tehran’s ability to covertly target shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf, at least temporarily, according to senior American officials.

That's just terrible. Trump should have his security clearance withdrawn, if he can't keep our intelligence methods secret!

But OTOH, I think we already assume that USA satellites have super-sharp images of earth, just like they have super-detailed charts of the ocean bottom. I also think that all of the other intelligence agencies know this for a fact as well; they probably know down to the centimeter the kind of resolution our satellites can achieve. They also probably know the frequencies being scanned (not just visible). The only people that this is being kept a secret from is you and me.

So when the intelligence agencies make a claim, like Iraq's "WMD program" or the so-called "invasion" of Ukraine, I think we should all insist on seeing their best evidence, not just grainy uninterpretable photos meant to dupe the gullible.

Oil To Hit $100? Half Of Saudi Oil Output Shut After Drone Strikes Cripple World's Largest Oil Processing Facility

Update: The WSJ is out with an update hinting at just how much the price of oil is set to soar when trading reopens late on Sunday after the Saudi Houthi false-flag drone attack on the largest Saudi oil processing plant:

Saudi Arabia is shutting down about half of its oil output after apparently coordinated drone strikes hit Saudi production facilities, people familiar with the matter said, in what Yemen’s Houthi rebels described as one of their largest-ever attacks inside the kingdom.

The production shutdown amounts to a loss of about five million barrels a day, the people said, roughly 5% of the world’s daily production of crude oil. The kingdom produces 9.8 million barrels a day.

And while Aramco is assuring it can restore output quickly, in case it can't the world is looking at a production shortfall of as much as 150MM barrels monthly, which - all else equal - could send oil soaring into the triple digits. Just what the Aramco IPO ordered.

Supply loss from KSA may be as high as 150 MM barrels/month. Oil may hit $100.
— Krishnan Viswanathan (@kxviswan123) September 14, 2019

* * *

What appears to be the most devastating Yemen Houthi rebel attack on Saudi Arabia to date, took place overnight on the world's largest oil processing facility as stunning videos emerged of massive explosions rocking the major Aramco Buqyaq facility.

Fires burned into the morning daylight hours, with explosions also reported at the Khurais oil field, in what the Houthis said was a successful attack involving ten drones. "These attacks are our right, and we warn the Saudis that our targets will keep expanding," a rebel military spokesman said on Houthi-operated Al Masirah TV.
Satellite images shows extent of fires following the attacks in eastern Saudi Arabia: NASA Worldview/AP

Saudi authorities — initially slow or reluctant to identify the cause of the major blaze — on Saturday issued a confirmation via the Saudi Press Agency: "At 4.00am (01:00 GMT) the industrial security teams of Aramco started dealing with fires at two of its facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais as a result of... drones," an interior ministry statement said, which further claimed the fires were "under control".

— Ahmed Alsalman (@AAlsalman91) September 14, 2019

However, the Saudis have stopped short of acknowledging the Houthis were behind the attack, which Riyadh is also likely to blame on Iran, which has lately promised that if it can't export its oil then "no one will".

It remains unclear according to early statements whether there were injuries or casualties in the twin oil facility attacks.

In some of the video captured by onlookers outside the Buqayq facility, gunfire in or around the complex was apparent.

The impact on global oil markets - closed for the weekend - could be significant given the Khurais field produces about 1% of all the world's oil (estimated at over 1M bpd and reserves of over 20BN bpd) and more importantly Abqaiq, which based on the stunning local footage bore the brunt of the drone attacks, remains the most crucial of the kingdom's processing plants.

Located 37 miles southwest of Aramco’s Dhahran headquarters, it controls all the flows from fields like the giant Ghawar field to coastal export terminals like Ras Tanura. Saudi Aramco describes the Buqyaq facility as "the largest crude oil stabilization plant in the world."

The world's largest oil processing facility has been hit in a drone attack.

Yemen's Houthi rebels have said they were behind the strikes on Saudi Arabia's Abqaiq plant. Read the full story here: https://t.co/PIGqR4cB2o pic.twitter.com/0Zor9f3Eye
— Sky News (@SkyNews) September 14, 2019

Meanwhile, the United States was quick to "strongly condemn" the attack amid already soaring tensions in the gulf after a summer of "tanker wars" and Iranian threats of walking away altogether from the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA).

The U.S. envoy to Saudi Arabia issued a statement saying, “The U.S. strongly condemns today’s drone attacks against oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais. These attacks against critical infrastructure endanger civilians, are unacceptable, and sooner or later will result in innocent lives being lost.”

According to Reuters reports the drone attacks will impact up to 5 million bpd of oil production, which suggests that the price of oil - already severely depressed by the recent news that John Bolton is out, making de-escalation with Iran far more likely - is set to soar when trading reopens late on Sunday, just what the upcoming Aramco IPO desperately needs, which in turn has prompted some to wonder if the "Yemen" attack on Saudi Arabia wasn't in fact orchestrated by Saudi interests. 18 years after Sept 11, this shouldn't sound all that outlandish...

Also, Putin snarkily offered to sell the Saudi's S400s, since our Patriot missile defense system didn't save the Saudi's from attack

‘Our relations are with Israel’: Trump appears to give embattled Netanyahu the cold shoulder

President Trump appeared to distance himself from embattled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, declining to offer either encouragement or praise to his most enthusiastically loyal foreign ally now that he faces potential electoral defeat.

Saudi Arabia said it signed a memorandum of understanding on the purchase from Russia of S-400 air defense systems. That marked a shift for the kingdom, which buys most of its military supplies from the United States and Britain.

"Potential electoral defeat"?

You mean like any politician in any election faces?

It's slim to none. He's not concerned in the least bit.

Love how he's calling out Joe Biden's dementia right now. My guess is that he would rather face off against Joe because he sees him as easy prey right now and he knows that the idiots on the left will rally behind Joe and keep him from retiring to his dementia in a home just like they're keeping Ginsberg on life support because Trump.

Short of some great global catastrophe that could plausibly be blamed squarely on the Trump administration, there is nearly zero chance that Trump is not re-elected.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

THUGR ... The MOU on S400s was signed but the KSA never purchased them. To be honest, even if they had, it's doubtful the system could have protected the "stabilization fability" from a coordinated swarm attack in which the initial drones confused and distracted the radar system.

It looks like the Houthis took a page from the Iranian playbook bcause when Iran shot down the USA's Global Hawk drone, the USA lied and said it was over international waters, and the Iranians let out a little information and evidence over several days, forcing USA "officials" to change their story time and time again until the USA narrative, and credibility, was publically destroyed. Now the Houthis are dribbling out evidence how they conducted their attack, forcing USA officials to back away from the "Iran did it" story.

ISRAEL IS NOT A USA ALLY IN THE MIDEAST.

While we have spent trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives fighting Israel's wars with Syria, Iraq, and Iran, Israel has not spent one dime fighting for our interests.

"Bibi" has lost the election, gaining fewer seats than "Benny" Gantz. Now Bibi should get his just deserts: jail time for corruption. And Jared Kushner will have to find a new BFF is Israel and have to figure out how he's going to sell "the Deal of the Century" to the new Israeli government. (No wonder Trump withheld its release until after the election! He has no idea if there would be a partner in government to receive and implement the plan!)

I hope I've reduced your confusion over ME events.

You suppose they make those with an English manual and screens? Or do they just send a few Russians along with every purchase? I'm not featuring too many Saudis speaking Russian - not the kind of thing you want to just "wing it."

You're not featuring too many Saudis speaking Russian in your work of fiction? Does that mean there will be at least one? A few? Half of them?

Is this a novel or a screenplay?

Yep, every other foreign leader played president rump. Why would we expect that Netanyahu wasn't up to taking advantage of such an easy mark?

US intelligence was appallingly bad, which is putting it mildly. This is an intelligence failure on the order of the failure of 9/11. Exactly why America and Saudi Arabia were so blind-sided is a question that needs answers.
