I just heard of the news about the passing of President Jimmy Carter. Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History.

The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

Melania and I are thinking warmly of the Carter Family and their loved ones during this difficult time. We urge everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers.

And yet I still have it way better than most people in the world in the history of the planet ever did. The system sucks for sure, but I manged to figure out a few cheat codes here or there and live most of my adult life on Easy Mode.

I'm not worried about me. I don't know how much longer they're going to be able to keep the system running before it all crumbles, but that should be long after I'm dead. It would be nice to go out one day and believe that humans still have a chance after I'm gone though.

It began when Nixon declared support for Israel (Oct 19, 1973) but lasted thru March 1974 under Carter's term. There were mile-long lines at gas stations. Carter had the right idea: energy independence. He was the sweater- wearing President who installed solar heaters on the WH.

He also introduced the idea of "human rights" into our foreign policy lexicon.

Unfortunately, he was completely outplayed by the neocons and war hawks and deep state of the day.

Energy policy was used to dominate the Mideast.

"Human rights“ was turned into an excuse to bomb any number of nations into smithereens.

And the Iranian revolution (against the corrupt and tyrannical Shah of Iran, installed a supported by the USA) was played by the CIA director William Casey and Ollie North into an arms deal that supported the Muslim extremists in exchange for them keeping the USA Embassy hostage until after Carter lost the election. (This was also during the Contra scandal and many "black ops' funded by CIA drug running. Ronnie Raygun was also outplayed by the deep state of the day.)

After his Presidency he devoted his energies to Habitat for Humanity. He never stopped believing in grassroots reform.

Well I did tell my old man today the one thing I could say about Jimmy Carter is that even though I was born at the tail end of his Presidency, I never heard him address the nation or even give his political opinion about anything to anybody from the day I was old enough to pay attention to the day he died.

He gets high marks from me right there.

Glad to see he was allegedly doing good stuff outside of the public eye. Hopefully that story was true.
