"We Tested 300 Bay Area Foods For Plastic Chemicals" Here's What We Found...

Quote:

Here are the top five findings from the test, most of which are shocking (full results published here https://www.plasticlist.org/ ):

*Our tests found plastic chemicals in 86% of all foods, with phthalates in 73% of the tested products and bisphenols in 22%. It's everywhere.

*We detected phthalates in most baby foods and prenatal vitamins.

*Hot foods which spend 45 minutes in takeout containers have 34% higher levels of plastic chemicals than the same dishes tested directly from the restaurant.

*The 1950s Army rations we tested contained surprisingly high levels of plastic chemicals.

*Almost every single one of the foods we tested are within both US FDA and EU EFSA regulations.

Cooking Oils Used By Millions Linked To Cancer In Second Study In A Week

What the Studies Reveal: Key Findings

In two groundbreaking studies released just days apart, researchers have spotlighted a concerning link between widely used cooking oils and cancer risks, specifically pointing to tumor growth in the colon and other organs. These studies raise critical questions about the health implications of seed oils, a staple in kitchens worldwide.

One study conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles, focused on the effects of certain oils on cancer progression. Dr. William Aronson, a professor of urology at UCLA School of Medicine who led the study, stated: “Our findings suggest that something as simple as adjusting your diet could potentially slow cancer growth and extend the time before more aggressive interventions are needed.” His team’s research suggests that dietary changes could be pivotal in managing the progression of diseases like prostate cancer.

Meanwhile, another study examined how the consumption of seed oils, such as sunflower and soybean oils, could increase levels of carcinogenic compounds in the body. These compounds, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), are known to play a role in tumor development. The findings have sparked further investigation into the safety of these oils and their processing methods, especially when exposed to high heat during cooking.

Together, these studies provide a sobering glimpse into the risks associated with cooking oils that millions consider harmless. By focusing on the potential long-term impacts, the researchers aim to ignite a broader conversation about diet, lifestyle, and cancer prevention.

Doctors Warn Cooking Oil Used By Millions May Be Fueling Explosion Of Colon Cancers In Young People
...
A study conducted by the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute analyzed over 100 tumor samples from patients with colorectal cancer. The findings revealed elevated levels of bioactive lipids—molecules that can promote inflammation—in the tumors. These lipids are believed to originate from the metabolism of seed oils such as sunflower, canola, corn, and grapeseed.

Thanks Sigs.

Yeah. We're putting motor oil in our bodies and have been doing it at an insane level since after WWII.

Crisco is probably the worst. It takes something like 70,000 cotton seeds to make one tablespoon of the shit.

Your body needs oils. But not this hyper-processed poison.

I really wish I could go back and not have a conversation we had here years ago where Kiki suggested I try canola oil. I had a LOT of that shit over the course of 3 or 4 years. 2 big Sam's Club bottles and about 1/3rd of a 3rd bottle.

Don't know if I got any positive benefits out of adding that to my rice, but with how much of it I ingested in a 3-4 year period I wonder if it had anything to do with my current health problems or will eventually lead to a few new ones.

Oh well.

How big are Sam's club bottles, just OOC? I'd be interested in estimating how much you had per day. Bc t sounds like a lot, but just 2 T of oil per day ... the minimum amount of oil needed per day ... over 3.5 years comes out to roughly 10 gallons.

10 gallons of Sam's Club canola oil in 3 1/2 years?

In any case, I don't think that would have caused autoimmune diabetes. Something made your immune system ring like a bell, and go hyperalert. It could have been when you were really sick, which might have been Covid, or some other virus.

Quote:

Given her recent COVID-19 history, she was assessed for LADA. Anti-GAD-65 and ZNT8 antibodies were 120 U/mL and 150U/mL, respectively. Serum C-peptide and IA-antibodies werewithin normal ranges. ... Clinicians should be vigilant for post-COVID LADA.

It's pretty well known that viruses can induce immune dysfunction. When I got to LA we all (hubby, his brother and his brother's wife, and me) all caught one nasty upper respiratory virus. They all recovered without consequence but I was left with asthma. To this day, if I catch an URI I wheeze and cough for months afterward, and that was back in 1978.

2 table spoons of oil per day is 10 gallons over 3.5 years?

The bottles weren't that big.

I didn't have the same thing every single night, but that was my usual meal and the canola oil was part of it. Maybe I was using less than I thought. I never measure anything. I just pulled the cap off the bottle and poured some in.

I think the diabetes might have been happening for a long time but I just didn't notice it because of how active i usually was. It probably developed when I was drinking heavily. I started feeling problems in my mid 30's, but I just attributed that to me getting older and not exactly taking the best care of myself. Those things were true, but the guy who had to break the bad news to me about how bad my teeth were said several times that I should get tested for diabetes because whenever he's seen calculus that dramatic it was due to diabetes. I think this was something like 9 years ago now.

I got blood work done after that, but that didn't do shit. I know I mentioned why I wanted the blood work done when I asked them for it, but I didn't have a scrip stating exactly what I wanted. Somebody should have scheduled an A1C and not just assumed that I would have known to ask for that. So I only had regular blood work done. I was working all night before, so it had probably been 18 hours since my last meal and my sugar level at the exact moment my blood was drawn was fine. I'm thinking if we had an A1C done back then we would have caught the problem in time to do something about it. It wasn't until after I learned about diabetes after my diagnosis that I realized the mistakes made here.

To make matters worse, I was going to an eye doctor who told me there were no signs of diabetes every time I was there and I'd ask her too, so if I had it early it really was hiding good.

Oh well....

Doesn't matter how I got it. I'll never know the answer to that.

Yep. Checked the calcs forwards -from tablespoons a day to gallons over 3.5 years. And backwards -vfrom 10 gallons over 3.5 years to tablespoons a day.

It sure adds up!

I think Make America Healthy Again is a great idea. And what RFK is looking into needs to be looked into. But TBH those boutique concerns are hobby-horse issues.

So, yeah ... set the researchers loose on things that might be issues. But there are things that need immediate attention, like lack of basic medical care and dental care for everyone, and the fact that almost everyone is under tremendous stress due to lack of meaningful jobs, and lack of money. It's no wonder that people are self soothing with junk food and street drugs.

Don't forget the regular standby of soothing yourself with booze, which they make a ton of money off of, both through taxes generated from the initial sales, and the huge profits they make by having a bunch of built-in liver problem patients or worse.

And now they've legalized weed pretty much everywhere. Now that it's legal for them to make huge tax profits off of it it's fine, but we'll still arrest you and take your house from you if you're growing some in your garden.

Any of you hear about "the fog"?

I guess a lot of people all around the country are posting videos of strange fog events that have been happening the last few days. It's supposedly happening in the UK as well.

A lot of people are claiming that it's making them sick.

I guess this "fog" leaves behind a residue so thick that you can draw things on your car if it wasn't left in a garage.

A google search comes up with just about nothing other than a few youtube channels discussing it and some posts on instagram and reddit. As far as I can tell no news organization has done any reporting on this. At least not any reporting that Google is showing us. Yahoo comes up with nothing too, but it's good to know that Yahoo uses AI in its searches now too /sarcasm.

No, I haven't heard of The Fog. But I HAVE noticed that our mornings have been unusually foggy, and we've had concurrent air pollution alerts.

It used to be that fog was a regular occurence in So Cal. I actually worked on an "acid fog" project around 1983. We were able to collect milliliters (tablespoons) of fog water for measurement. By measuring things like conductance (using platinum electrodes) and ion concentrations, able to measure how contaminated with air pollution the fog water was, and what were the main sources. (In the LA "air basin", nitric acid from high temperature combustion from power plants, motor vehicles, etc.)

Then, climate took an unexpected turn: fog disappeared from the landscape! No fog for decades and decades. Until lately!

Couple of comments:

"Smog' is a portmanteau of "smoke" and "fog". Fog and air pollution go together for a couple of reasons. One is that the still, ground-hugging weather conditions that promote fog also promote the collection of air pollution, which otherwise disperses with rising air and wind. The second is that fog is a great concentrator of air pollution. Small particle air pollution is a great promoter of fog, serving as a condenstaion nucleus for water. Then sulfur oxides (from burning sulfur containing fuel) and nitrogen oxides (from high temperature combustion) and sometimes more exotic gases from specific industries dissolve in all of those little droplets of water, turning into sulfuric acid and nitric acid, respectively. The great London fogs and the deadly Donora event werent just weather related events, they were a combination of fog and air pollution (weather, small particles, and sulfur oxides and hydrofluoric acid, respectively). When the fog settles on something is can leave a film.

So if there are an unusual number of fog events I would first look to the weather. Sis in WNY says this winter has been a roller coaster of warmth and cold. Fog will form whenever damp air is chilled. Then look for specific sources of local, ground- level air pollution.

That would be a nicer explanation for it than anybody else is offering. With the news I woke up with today though, I wonder...

I just heard that they "discovered" that 91% of cows have Bird Flu and they're considering forcing another mass vaccination on everyone. And now I guess a company called Northwest Naturals had to recall all their raw and frozen pet food because it had bird flu and it killed a cat.

Probably should have seen this coming. They tried destroying the world once to get rid of Trump, why not do it again at the start of his Presidency rather than the 11th hour?

Wonder Bread, huh?

I'm glad I stopped eating that crap by the time I was 10. Too bad the Food Pyramid was a complete scam from the beginning and I was eating "whole grain" breads when all they were was processed cake too.

THIS???

Quote:

Dense Fog Warning Issued For 12 States As Drivers Told 'Slow Down'

Dense fog warnings are in place across 12 states today, with various parts of the country continuing to be hit with weather warnings over the festive period.

. . .
The warning has been issued for the following states:

Michigan
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Iowa
North Dakota
South Dakota
Nebraska
Kansas
Oklahoma
Texas
Colorado
Louisiana

Some of the densest fog is expected in the central U.S., with areas in Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa particularly hard hit.

Urban areas like Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Lincoln may see significant disruption during the morning commute. In parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, freezing fog may cause dangers by creating slick surfaces on untreated roads.

Meanwhile, over in the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes regions may experience delays for shipping and boating activities due to the hazardous conditions.

These advisories cover a wide range of regions, including urban areas, rural locations, and nearshore waters. Visibility is expected to be significantly reduced in these areas, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and mariners.
What People Are Saying

The NWS said on X, formerly Twitter: "Several areas across the U.S. are being watched for potential hazardous weather spanning a few days either side of New Year's Day."
What's Next

The duration of the fog advisories varies by region, but most are expected to remain in effect until late morning or early afternoon on Friday.

In central U.S., including Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas, fog is likely to clear between 9:00 a.m. and noon local time, while parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, such as Wisconsin and Michigan, may see advisories extend until 1:00 p.m. local time with freezing fog potentially lingering longer in some areas.

Mountain and Plains regions, like Colorado, can expect fog to lift by 9:00 a.m. local time, though valleys may experience longer delays. Coastal and marine areas, including the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes, are likely to see fog dissipate by mid-morning, though some marine advisories may remain in place due to ongoing hazards.

OH BTW, in agricultural areas, like many of these states are, the primary pollutant in fog water is ammonia. So rather than being acidic, the fog will be salty (ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate) or somewhat basic.

Gonna look up the explanation for all of this fog.

Yeah. If I search online, that's all I ever see from the news outlets. Just mention of the huge amount of fog.

But if you do searches on social media and watch videos people are making they paint a much darker picture.

We haven't had any here, or at least any amount that I considered abnormal.

Yep, everyone is talking about the fog.

Quote:

Thursday marked the third day in a row of this record-breaking fog outbreak, largely the result of a storm drawing tremendous amounts of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico overtop a shallow layer of cooler air left behind by last week’s Arctic blasts.

So, according to the weather people, there was a record snowpack throughout the middle of the USA, and following that, warm moist air from the Gulf wafted in and got foggy as it cooled. Same effect as you breathing into cold air, but on a geologic scale. This goes along with the pix sis has been been sending me of their weather, which has been roller coaster.... feet of snow. Then warm. Then REALLY cold. Then warm again. I'll ask her if it's been foggy

I'll look into bird flu. There are a lot of aspects I don't know. For example - do cows recover from bird flu? If they do, do they acquire lifelong immunity? What about birds? If bird flu doesn't mutate very rapidly, and immunity is acquired, then we should see a reduction in the animal reservoir that could POTENTIALLY infect humans..

In the meantime, the unless you have a backyard flock of chickens or work with cows, your chance of being exposed is almost nil. Bird flu is destroyed by heat, so don't drink raw milk and dont eat raw meat.

Pretty sure I mentioned it up above, didn't I?

People are claiming that they went out into it and got sick almost immediately, showing videos of all the particles in the fog and then showing the crap that settled on it.

I know you can explain away those things. Maybe it's nothing.

I'm at the point now where everything can be faked and nothing can be trusted.

The Muslim who ran down 15 people on new years eve? The Tesla that blew up right in front of Trump Tower?

There are people in this world now with so much Fuck You money that they could pay anybody any price to do anything like this. Maybe the guy who shot the healthcare CEO too.

The kid might have got away with that and had a huge payday coming to him if he didn't get caught? He sure looked happy on that CCTV camera footage before they nabbed him. Maybe the Muslim dude was terminally ill and a bunch of money went to his family if he did that after being born here, getting education here, and being in the military before doing this? AFAIK, nobody has any clue who did the Tesla bombing. They might be sitting on a fat stack of cash right now.

We already know that tens or possibly hundreds of millions of dollars was spent by the Harris/Walz campaigns to get influencers to influence their followers into voting for her, and nobody even got a slap on the wrist for not disclosing that it was a paid advertisement. No doubt using some loophole that they can legally get away with this behavior which would be severe crimes if they were caught doing it on broadcast television.

What even is real anymore?

It's like we're all extras in the worst reality TV show they ever produced.
