Quote: Here are the top five findings from the test, most of which are shocking (full results published here https://www.plasticlist.org/ ): *Our tests found plastic chemicals in 86% of all foods, with phthalates in 73% of the tested products and bisphenols in 22%. It's everywhere. *We detected phthalates in most baby foods and prenatal vitamins. *Hot foods which spend 45 minutes in takeout containers have 34% higher levels of plastic chemicals than the same dishes tested directly from the restaurant. *The 1950s Army rations we tested contained surprisingly high levels of plastic chemicals. *Almost every single one of the foods we tested are within both US FDA and EU EFSA regulations.

Quote: Cooking Oils Used By Millions Linked To Cancer In Second Study In A Week What the Studies Reveal: Key Findings In two groundbreaking studies released just days apart, researchers have spotlighted a concerning link between widely used cooking oils and cancer risks, specifically pointing to tumor growth in the colon and other organs. These studies raise critical questions about the health implications of seed oils, a staple in kitchens worldwide. One study conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles, focused on the effects of certain oils on cancer progression. Dr. William Aronson, a professor of urology at UCLA School of Medicine who led the study, stated: “Our findings suggest that something as simple as adjusting your diet could potentially slow cancer growth and extend the time before more aggressive interventions are needed.” His team’s research suggests that dietary changes could be pivotal in managing the progression of diseases like prostate cancer. Meanwhile, another study examined how the consumption of seed oils, such as sunflower and soybean oils, could increase levels of carcinogenic compounds in the body. These compounds, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), are known to play a role in tumor development. The findings have sparked further investigation into the safety of these oils and their processing methods, especially when exposed to high heat during cooking. Together, these studies provide a sobering glimpse into the risks associated with cooking oils that millions consider harmless. By focusing on the potential long-term impacts, the researchers aim to ignite a broader conversation about diet, lifestyle, and cancer prevention.
Quote: Doctors Warn Cooking Oil Used By Millions May Be Fueling Explosion Of Colon Cancers In Young People ... A study conducted by the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute analyzed over 100 tumor samples from patients with colorectal cancer. The findings revealed elevated levels of bioactive lipids—molecules that can promote inflammation—in the tumors. These lipids are believed to originate from the metabolism of seed oils such as sunflower, canola, corn, and grapeseed.

Quote: Dense Fog Warning Issued For 12 States As Drivers Told 'Slow Down' Dense fog warnings are in place across 12 states today, with various parts of the country continuing to be hit with weather warnings over the festive period. . . . The warning has been issued for the following states: Michigan Wisconsin Minnesota Iowa North Dakota South Dakota Nebraska Kansas Oklahoma Texas Colorado Louisiana Some of the densest fog is expected in the central U.S., with areas in Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa particularly hard hit. Urban areas like Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Lincoln may see significant disruption during the morning commute. In parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, freezing fog may cause dangers by creating slick surfaces on untreated roads. Meanwhile, over in the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes regions may experience delays for shipping and boating activities due to the hazardous conditions. These advisories cover a wide range of regions, including urban areas, rural locations, and nearshore waters. Visibility is expected to be significantly reduced in these areas, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and mariners. What People Are Saying The NWS said on X, formerly Twitter: "Several areas across the U.S. are being watched for potential hazardous weather spanning a few days either side of New Year's Day." What's Next The duration of the fog advisories varies by region, but most are expected to remain in effect until late morning or early afternoon on Friday. In central U.S., including Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas, fog is likely to clear between 9:00 a.m. and noon local time, while parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, such as Wisconsin and Michigan, may see advisories extend until 1:00 p.m. local time with freezing fog potentially lingering longer in some areas. Mountain and Plains regions, like Colorado, can expect fog to lift by 9:00 a.m. local time, though valleys may experience longer delays. Coastal and marine areas, including the Gulf Coast and Great Lakes, are likely to see fog dissipate by mid-morning, though some marine advisories may remain in place due to ongoing hazards.

OH BTW, in agricultural areas, like many of these states are, the primary pollutant in fog water is ammonia. So rather than being acidic, the fog will be salty (ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate) or somewhat basic. Gonna look up the explanation for all of this fog. ----------- "It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal." - Henry Kissinger AMERICANS SUPPORT AMERICA

Quote: Thursday marked the third day in a row of this record-breaking fog outbreak, largely the result of a storm drawing tremendous amounts of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico overtop a shallow layer of cooler air left behind by last week’s Arctic blasts.
