PENGUIN

I just got back from the Iowa CSTS showing. Big kudos go to the venue and to BadgerGirl and her crew who did most of the work!

I got to meet Causal and his lovely wife, RedLava, and BadgerGirl, of course. There may have been others from the site, but Causal and I were the only ones with name tags (hand made on the spot! lol) Note to self...badges...we need stinkin' badges next time!

There was a good crowd. I don't have the exact number...maybe BadgerGirl will let us know!

It was my first time watching Serenity in the theater. It was interesting to listen to people laugh and I heard background stuff that I never knew was there!

All in all a great evening...Can't wait for next year!!!!

Damn, and here I thought you were going to post over in the old thread! I got all excited and everything! Oh, well. I do have this:

From left to right: Causal, BadgerGirl, Penguin (hail to the king!), and RedLava

One of our costumed attenders:

Nathan Fillion has never been more attractive to me:

Owing to her superb organizational efforts on the Iowa CSTS screening I hearby declare, by the power vested in me by His Highness King Penguin, that Badgergirl is henceforth to be known as Empress of Enterprising Entertainment Engagements and Bearer of the Sequel Flame OF THE MYTHICAL LAND OF IOWA (subject to the approval of FutureMrsFillion).

More photos to come. I'll post when I get my write up to News of the Verse.

Hey, I'm "Nathan Fillion" from the pic! I just signed up, so this post pops the cherry! (and it was oh so good, though brief... as usual) I must say though, I'm a little upset you didn't get my boots in that picture, because seriously, those boots were pimp. If anyone has any other pictures I'd appreciate seein' 'em, since I didn't take any myself.

I thought it was a great event; I wish there were more like it around! I look forward to meeting you guys. Are there any type of Browncoat get togethers in the area?

Also, anyone go to DragonCon here?

Just got home! First off, welcome Mol, great costume. Second, a big thanks to Badgergirl and the other folks who put on a great screening and I will definitely be there next year.

It was great meeting you guys, always nice putting names to faces. Almost forgot how great that movie was on the big screen.

Let me know in plenty of time if there are going to be any big shindigs happening, and I will make a dedicated effort to be there.

Catch ya'll later.

Just got home ten minutes ago, after an extraordinarily late dinner at IHOP!

Thanks for posting the pictures, Causal; those look great! And welcome, Mol; you're costume was wonderful and you really deserved first prize. :)

I can hardly believe it's over! All that planning and now it's done (for this year). But it was all definitely worth it. Finally seeing all of you guys and meeting up with other Flans was great.

Anyway, I really ought to get some sleep before work. Thank you to everyone who showed up, it was a great time!

Mol,

Welcome welcome! I was that annoying guy hiding behind the camera all night. Sorry if I intruded on your fun, but you and your costumed cohorts just looked great!

There were four of us from the boards last night. Badgergirl was the presenter at the drawing. Penguin and RedLava kept a lower profile, but they're smooth like that.

Well, I hope you enjoy our little corner of the 'verse. We're a friendly bunch. If you like costumes, you should head over to the picture threads. We've got some very talented folks.

Also, we're thinking of doing a central Iowa shindig at some point, so let us know if you'd be interested in that!

-------------------------------------------------------
Editted to add: I do have some pics with your boots in them. I'll get to those in due time. But this was the favorite of you from the event. I actually screwed up the camera setting (thank God) which is why it came out with such a soft-focus look to it. I do have tons more pictures. I'll get them all up before long.

I was surprised by the fact that although there were 100 or so people there, only 4 or 5 of us were FFFers. Were there some there incognito? Or do we really just have that few Iowans on the boards? Reveal yourselves, Iowa browncoats!

Absolutely! I also have some friends whom I'm sure would be interested in that, too! (one of them toted around my soaking wet brown coat last night, which I never ended up wearing, poor kid)

And thanks to you guys for planning such a fun event. I guess that's a no for you guys on DragonCon?

Yes, I'm afraid so. I'm just too poor to get out there, though I wish I could. I think the event would be great--but the real bummer for me is that I'll miss the opportunity to meet all the folks here on FFF.net!

BTW, I'll start talking to Badgergirl about a shindig. We'll let you know what develops. Oh, and if you live down in DM, I hope you and yours came through the storms OK!

CSTS.com says that we pulled in an estimated $1,125. Not to bad for our first showing and being in the middle of BFE. Good job Iowa Browncoats.

I just got back on the boards after not having been on for a while. Unfortunately I got on a few weeks too late. I live in Des Moines and wish that I would have known about the CSTS event. Any other event that happens here in Iowa I want to be in on. Lets get something else together so I can make up for my error!!!

I don't know if you are asking me where I work, but I will answer. I just graduated from Iowa State and recently got a job at Methodist Hospital. If you want to see if you can get a job, go to the website (ihs.org) and check it out.

Admit it, there was no screen on which to see the movie, because there is no Iowa.

I'm in KC MO, but I married Iowan. (Good taste, huh). Iowa's less than a day trip, and I would be more than happy to join in any shindigs or other activities.

Let me know!
