Be a part of a grand global event as Browncoats around the world enjoy the Big Damn Movie, "Serenity" and raise funds for Joss Whedon's favorite charity, Equality Now.

Throughout the world, in cities from Melbourne to Manhattan, fans are coming together and trying to change the world. Each event is tailored to the local community, but is tied to the global effort of "Can't Stop the Serenity".

Founded in 1992, Equality Now is a human rights organization that focuses on ending violence and discrimination against women and girls by the mobilization of public pressure.
Equality Now addresses issues such as female genital mutilation (FGM), women's rights issues in developing countries, and gender equality in the Middle East.

Amanda Sullivan, Women's Action Network Director of Equality Now, applauds the efforts of the global "Can't Stop the Serenity" events. "All of us at Equality Now continue to be amazed by and grateful for the Browncoats' and Serenity fans' generous and committed support for our work. Their energy and enthusiasm is inspiring and these screenings are coming at a critical time when we are especially in need of funds! We thank each and every one of them."

"If you can't do something smart, do something right."

On-line ticket sales are closed but tickets at the door are available on the day of the show but our sales jumped up this weekend so the sellout is looking a little more likely. The Wayward Coffeehouse on Greenwood Ave. N and Dreamstrands Comics on NE 85th St have tickets to sell as well.
$17.00 at the door or bring some non-perisable food items for Northwest Harvest and get $2 off the ticket price!

Hope to see you there!

When: August 10, 2008 11:00 AM

Where: Wayward Coffeehouse - 8570 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103

Yup. It's true. We are getting an early start on planning for next year's Serenity Forever/Equality Now movie screening event in 2009 and we need your ideas no matter how grand or how simple. We want them all ~ no restrictions on time, money or place ~ let's hear 'em!

Did you notice something from this year's screening that could be changed for the better? Is there a second cousin, twice removed in your family who works for a potential sponsor? Are you wanting to jump into the fray from the very beginning and make your mark on the next event?
Then we want your comments, dreams and suggestions.

Come help us make our 2009 charity screening of "Serenity" better than ever!

If you can't make the meeting, no worries! Send me a wave and I'll shout out your ideas at the meeting with full credit to your creative genius! (or anonymously if you'd prefer that)
