CHRISK

I was excited about the possibility of trekking out to Chi-town for this. Then I realized that the Browncoat Bash was the same day as the Toronto "Can't stop the Serenity" screening.

I guess I'll have to pass on this con. If anybody from here makes it, say hi to Jewel for me!

I'll be in attendance. I'm very much looking for it. Both for the prospect of meeting lots of Browncoats and Jewel, and because by the time the open bar Browncoat Bash arrives, I'll be 21.

Definitely hoping to see lots of folks there. I'm familiar with the gent who is running the place as we both do WWII reenacting and he is the organizer of Reenactorfest, a convention for reenactors from Ancient Rome to WWII and plenty more.

Reenactorfest is always a blast, The organizer definitely knows what he's doing and even though this is a first year event, his expertise (plus the backup he has from the Midwest Garrison and his love of fiction it should be a great time.

For those planning to enjoy the ball's... offerings. I don't know if I'd advocate staying in the hotel (as much as I'd love to give undying support to this event) I stayed there (same location as RF) and found it to be rather bare bones for what was paid. No breakfast or anything. There are other hotels very close by. So taking that into consideration might be worth your time and internet browsing.

I saw at Dragon Con 2009 there was a BrownCoat costume group in the parade and throught the con. Cyphan has thing for costume groups there like the Star Wars group The 501st, the Indy Jones group and ect.
Is there a Brown Coat group around the Midwest that can make a get together at Cyphan. seems to be a great place to recruit new members as well as show off the costumes. Cyphan is offering free booth space to fan based groups. You still need to buy your ticket to get in, but at least you dont have to pay for the booth.. check it out at www.cyphan.com

there is a Chicago browncoat meetup group. And while I don't know how active they are (only just discovered them a few days ago, they definitely do have Cyphan marked as their next meetup. Here's teh link.

As this will be my first Firefly/Sci-fi event. Any suggestions as to what the dress code is, if you don't have a costume...? I feel like a bit of a newbie. lol

This was a terrific event. It being a first year it was quite small and attendance was slightly low, but for the rest of us, it meant lots of time to talk to Jewel who might possibly be one of the most genuine and friendly people ever.
