Quote: In the world of television science fiction series, Firefly stands on the same exalted plateau as Star Trek, not only for its fantastic plots, but for its excellent cast that feed on each other’s energy. Joss Whedon’s brilliance in creating some of contemporary television’s classic characters such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel found its natural arc in creating the characters of Captain Mal Reynolds, Zoe and Wash Washburne, Inara Serra, Kaylee Frye, Jayne Cobb, Shepherd Book and brother and sister River and Simon Tam. Caught in a limbo of flying in space in a maverick freight carrier named Serenity, a character of its own, the ensemble forms an unpredictable but easily accessible cast that found an enormous following in the 14 episodes it was allowed to run. We offer the feature film made from the series last year in honor of Whedon’s June 23 birthday, and hope to find new fans to sit in amazement and delight old fans once again with a cast that many consider best friends.
