How are ships unlike food?
1. If you try it and don't like it, you don't have to do it again.
2. You can have as much as you want, when you want.
3. Cravings can be very specific.
I mean, hello it's not as if there's 'ship police?

There's no way I can afford to go, but the Element club's only a ten-minute walk from my place.

Darn, CLJohnston108... because it looks to be a very good time. With no hotel expense... and they do allow you to pay part of your ticket now and the rest later... and getting the cheaper ticket... well, I just wish you could. I went to B3 last year and it was the third most fabulous memory of my life!
I wish you that much joy too!

I'm not going either, family stuff calls louder and stronger and demands more money, LOL... but it does look to be all kinds of fun.

Everyone I've seen who's posted an opinion about Sean Harry's cons say they are outstanding.
This should be as well.

I would really like to go to the Starfury Serenity event. It would be my first convention and I would be attending by myself. Any tips for a first timer?

Naw, I'm sticking with Dcon since Adam is going. The only one I haven't met that is going to be at starfury is Jewel. I'm a patient browncoat so I'll wait it out on her and take my chances. Hope you all have fun though....

Yeah, I'm seeing Adam for Starfury Infinity in October so I'm saving my money for my weeks vacation in London.

I went to my first Starfury convention on my own and (at the risk of sounding corny) fell into the arms of family. I'm not naturally outgoing but I didn't need to be. That was 2 years ago and I've been to plenty more cons since (mainly Starfury ones but several others too) and can honestly say I have never had as much fun (or as much contact with the guests, which is, lets face it, primarily why we go to these things) as I have had at Starfury conventions.

Don't let going on your own be a reason not to book. You won't be alone for long once you get there.

As for tips - you can check out Starfury's website - there's plenty of information there. Were there any specific bits of information you were looking for?

It was the easiest decision I made all year!

You can never be sure how much longer these events will run for. Most of the actors are moving on now and may not be seen in genre specific events, but rather just cattle market signing events which are no fun at all and certainly not worth spending vast sums of money for 2 minutes of face time (if you're lucky) with the person you went to see.

What are you waiting for? I thought the young were supposed to be impulsive!

I presume you know Adam Baldwin has cancelled his Dragon Con appearance now - filming schedule conflict apparently ("Chuck", I think the program is called).

He is still an announced guest for Serenity LA - but then it will be much easier for the guests to fit a con in their hometown into their shooting schedules I imagine (since most of them live in LA or so I believe).

I would love to go, but unfortunately $400 is alot of money for me period. I would go the cheaper route, but I would still want the autographs, and etc, so there is no way I can do it. Adam and Jewel are the only ones so far on the list that I want to meet that I haven't ,and it's still alot of money for me for just 2 of them....

Bummer. I thought Starfury's ticket prices were amazingly cheap compared to what we all cheefully handed over to Booster! Whilst I admit that we have the benefit of a strong exchange rate I still feel I'm getting a lot for my money.

Ok, I am going to try to make this happen for me to go. I have never been to CA before so does anyone know what airport I need to fly into that is closest to this event. Is anyone here going that needs a room mate? I am gonna try to leave here on that Friday, and return home on Sunday. I really only want to be there for Sat anyways. If I can get the money up I need for a room, food, extra emergency cash, and flight then I can afford to buy a pass I will go. If the passes sell out oooh well, that's why I want to make sure I have all my funds available before I book a flight cause if I book my flight now, and the passes sell out I am screwed....

The planning is going terribly. I don't think I am going to be able to go. I can get up the flight funds, but the pass is a killer. I know it's all worth it, but $400 is alot for me rite now. I am trying like hell to make it, but rite at this moment it doesn't look good. Dam shame to cause I would do almost anything to meet both Adam, and Nathan, aarrgghh....

Huge favor fellow browncoats. If by any chance I can't make it to Starfury, and I do not want to think negative about not being able to go, but it just might not happen for me. Would someone pretty please get me an 8x10 personalized autograph from Adam, Nathan, and Jewel. I would sooooo appreciate it. There is no way I am making it to the creation event in Burbank period, so if anyone is going to that could I possibly request a personalized autograph from Sean. I am soooo way behind, and my wall is sooooo bare. I have an honor code with myself being that I wasn't going to get them unless I can meet them in person, but it's hasn't been looking very good for me for the past year and a half, and soooo sad I am. I will absolutely pay for these. If anyone can lend me a hand my email addy is jedi_riccan@yahoo.com, Oooooh yeah, and if I can't make it does anyone think there will be another shiny event next year? If worse, comes to worse I can always start saving now for it. Thanks all, mwah

Well, I walked over there Sunday afternoon, since I couldn't have this thing goin' on mere blocks from my place and not have a look-see!

When I first heard about it being at the Element club, I went over and looked at the place, and it seemed kinda small for the throngs of adoring flans we've come to expect.

As I walking over yesterday, I was sorta expecting to see folks walking up & down Hollywood Blvd. wearing Blue Sun & Fruity Oaty t-shirts but, alas, no such luck.

The sidewalk out front of Element was completely deserted as I strode up, so for a second I thought the whole thing was just an Internet myth.
When I got to the open door, I saw a couple of guys sitting at a table with some SerenityLA badges and a pile of Nintendo ID lanyards.
The table on the other side of the vestibule was covered in glossy stills of our BDMs.

I asked the guy closest to the door how everything's gone, since I couldn't afford to go but only live a few blocks away.
He said it went really well, and that they were definitely going to come back next year... at a bigger venue!

Through the curtain, which had about a 4" gap, I heard Jewel's voice, followed by Nathan's!
I walked over and peeked through, and saw Jewel, Nathan, Morena & Christina up on the little stage.
That gave me a surge of excitement!
The room was filled, but it seemed like a small enough space to give the festivities an intimate feel.
I was afraid to get closer than 3 feet from the curtain, 'cause I didn't want anybody to yell at me, but it was so cool just to get a glimpse of the BDH's I haven't run into on the street yet, and to hear their voices!

I now don't feel so bad about missing the event entirely, since I got that little taste.

My adventure started off on Thursday morning. After missing my first flight to Dallas I knew it was going to be a rough day. For the remainder of my flights on was on standby, and was able to get there in one piece. I arrived at the hotel early Thursday afternoon, and dumped all my luggage then made my way to the Cantina to register. I was early arriving so I just introduced myself to the browncoats that were already there. Jonathan Woodwards was there playing his guitar and entertaining everyone for some time. When it was time to register I made sure I got my photo ops with Adam Baldwin. We had to purchase our extra autographs on Friday at the event. I got my badge, photo op tickets, and had then made my way to the California kitchen for the Nathan appreciation dinner, and no he was not there, lol. Had dinner hung out with some really cool gals, and decided to call it a night.

Woke up mid Friday morning, and just hung out for a while. There wasn't really much happening that day that made me get all warm and fuzzy inside. The event started out at the Element club with a Q&A from Yan Feldman, and Nectar Rose. It was interesting to see what Nectar looked like outside the lovebot costume. She is very beautiful, and a very charmimg lady. The panel went well, and they seemed to have a good time doing it. Next up was a guest talk with Ron. I swear this man is like a fine wine, he keeps getting better with age, lol. It was a delight to get to see him again and it was really cool of him to remember me from Dcon.

Next was a guest talk from Jonathan Woodwards. Some of you might remember him from Buffy, and I believe he was also on Angel at one point, but not sure. Let me just say that this gentleman was the life of the party indeed. He is soooo funny, and makes everone feel comfortable. He not only brought his guitar with him, but had also brought rather odd items from his home to give to us if we answered questins correctly. For the remainder of the con after the guest talks there was the photo ops with Ron, Yan, Nectar, Jonathan, Morena, and Jewel. I did not get any on that day being my budget was quite strict. After the con I went back to the hotel and changed for dinner, and the after party at the cantina. I had dinner with some fellow browncoats at an italian restaurant rite next to the Element. The food was ok, but the company was pleasurable. I then headed off to the Cantina for the after party by myself cause I wanted to take a slow stroll down Hollywood Blvd. I ran into Jonathan, and Jewel's husband on the way. and had a really good conversation with the both of them on the way there. Got to the party, got a drink, and started mingleing. Introduced myself to everyone, and had a blast.

Saturday morning came way to early, and got ready for the con. Headed over and got a seat front row. Enjoyed the morning Q&A's, and had my first photo op with Adam. The day went by way to quick, but it was so exciting to be there. Morena remembered me from Dallas when I gave her a bear which was sooo sweet. Mark remembered me also from Dcon wgich was cool. Meeting Christina, and Nectar was awesome. They are all very cool people to hang out with. I gave Jewel, and Adam the final Blue Sun pin's. Jewel Loved it, her husband put it on her shirt for the night which was really cool. Adam loved his also. There was another party that Jonathan was hosting for the Allience pass holders at the Scorpion bar so he wasn't at the Cantina. I tried looking for the bar but couldn't find it since we were also allowed to go over there.

Sunday came and I got the rest of my autograph's, and my final photo op with Adam. When it was time for Mark's, and Adam's Q&A I noticed that Adam was wearing my pin which made me totally giggly. I didn't remember if he was wearing it during the photo ops's which he was but I blocked it in my picture cause I was to bust snuggling up to him. The biggest suprise was during Jewel's, Morena's, and Christina's Q&A. Nathan came and kindly crashed the panel, it was so awesome. We found out that the needle that Morena had in Serenity was filled with a substance that if she injected it in her and was raped by the reavers it would kill them. The biggest secret revealed was that in Book's past he was a dirty cop gone shepherd. There was one really big secret that Morena wanted to give up about why Inara left the training house in the beginning of Firefly, but she was not permitted to say after Nathan personally called Joss on the phone dutring the panel.

We all already know that Alan's talk about a Serenity 2 was false, but because Joss wouldn't let Morena spill the beans meant there is a possibility we might get another story, movie, or something. All, and all I had a huge blast attending the event, and can't wait till next year's Serenity infinity. There's also going to be another Serenity creation event also next year. I must start saving my pennies cause it's going to be an expensive year for sure. The browncoat cruise is happening next month with guests, Ron Glass, Jonathan Woodwards, and I believe Nector Rose will also be attending that. This was my last event for the year, so till 08 Serenity forever.

You can't take the sky from me....
