Hey peoples. I was just thinking, wouldn't it be fun to gets together and Shindig, watch some episodes, eat some chinese food or campfire beans or whatever. What does every think? who in AZ wants to gather somewhere and do this?

Great idea. I'm in Tempe.

There were eight at our shindig a few weeks ago, plus Nathan's parents dropped in. That one was organized on the OB, and so folks that aren't OBish may have missed it. I suggest with some serious cross posting that more will show.

Yeah, and if wishes were horses we'd all be eatin' steak.

Sorry Wil, Don't know of anyone, but I'd be sure to tell you if I did.

Well, maybe if we actually have something down here you can hang too. Bring your friends, bring your family, whomever you know that is into the 'verse.

Well I know one in the Phoenix area would be more convenient for me.

But if we get some suggestion type things we can work something out. I'm against a side of the highway shindig, just on the grounds that I don't wanna haul my TV out there and buy a generator and all that.

We have one suggestion for after mid november, anyone have anything to say about that either way?

Well if we go to a house, then We all can bring food or order food and such, if we go to a place, then who knows if we can have foods.

What does y'all think?

I'll offer my house if my roomie has no problems. House isn't huge, but it should be big enough for enough people to make it fun. Although if someone else wants to offer, I ain't gonna protest.

Or we could talk to Atomic Comics and see if they would be willing to host a thing.

I like the brainstorming. I hadn't thought about Atomic Comics, but it sounds interesting. Anyway, I'm willing to travel a bit. I could get to Prescott, Flag, or Tucson, but of course whichever way will make it farther for someone. December is fine for me. Very nice of Zark to offer up a place, and I doubt that we'll get a better offer.

If it's pot luck we'll have to make sure it doesn't become like my work place and everyone brings paper plates or soda.

I'd prefer the chipping in for pizza idea. We could all bring $5-7 apiece and just order from Pizza the Hut, or whatever is close. How many pizzas we'd get would be determined by how many people showed up (bigger turnout=more varieties). As to when, I'm open as long as it's after mid-November.

On the OB, Nywoe_Annie (who organized our last Phoenix Shindig, aka "Meet The Parents") has suggested possibly taking an outing to laser tag

You can read and reply to her message through this link:

http://forums.prospero.com/foxfirefly/messages/?msg=19285.1

Or, in the interest of cross posting effeciency, you can read and reply to her message here, and I'll try to keep the boards coordinated.

To: ALL (1 of 1)

Hi all!
Last weekend I played lasertag for the first time with my husband's company and it was a blast! So I starting thinking... Laser tag, shinding, laser tag, shinding... Hmmm, it just might work!

So I mostly just need to know from you guys what kind of interest there is in something like that. If we want to take over the arena, we need to have about 30 people or more, which would probably mean that we'd need to bring friends and family. I don't know how many of you have done laser tag before, but this is something that's fun for all ages!

I called Laser Quest to get prices. (We actually went to a different place last weekend, but somebody there said that Laser Quest was better.) They have 2 locations, one in Mesa and one in Phoenix by Peoria and I-17. http://www.laserquest.com/

If we had a large group, we could reserve the area for ourselves for $155 per 20-min game. That comes to about $5 per person per game if we have 30 people.

Option 2 (also requires a large group): We do a "lock-in" where we get the run of the place from midnight til 6am. Yes, that's 6 in the morning. The lady said that would be $30 per person. It sounds like a lot of fun, but I have a feeling most people's schedules would balk at such treatment.

Option 3: We just go and join the masses who are already playing there. That costs $7 per person per game and the benefit is that we don't need a lot of people, but then we don't get to be by ourselves either.

So... Whatdya think???

P.S.-- They have a party room that we could use as long as it's not already reserved.

P.P.S.-- It was the Mesa location that I called for these prices, so the Phoenix one might have different group programs.

Yeah, and if wishes were horses we'd all be eatin' steak.

Hi Zark,
If you want my advice (not that you asked for it, but that's never stopped me before!), you should pick a day and time for the Shindig that works best for you, and let us know what that is. It's your house after all! I do know that for most people, weekends work best. Sunday works best for me personally, but if we plan on staying up late, most people would probably prefer Sat., I'm guessing.

Then Haufel can spread the word of the Shinding to the other boards. I've got a list of known online AZ Browncoats, so if you want me to e-mail everyone seperately, I can. (I'm an administrative asssistant. I can't stop myself from making lists!) 15 people on there as of now, not counting the Firefly meetup page.

We can do lasertag or something like that sometime later I think. Having a viewing party would be much easier to organize, and would give us all a chance to meet one another! Plus it just sounds like fun.

Another lengthy post brought to you by Annie.

I've got the mother-in-law coming the weekend of the 20th. That's kind of why I suggested that Zark pick the date. It's going to be pretty impossible to pick a weekend when everyone is free. But for the record, the 13th, the 27th, and the 28th all work for me. Nothing's going to work for my husband until Jan. He's the manager of a store in the mall... Yuck. If I can help it, I'll never do retail at Christmas.
