ZOID

Fellow Browncoats:

I wonder if I might presume upon your good graces by asking for some assistance in a little guerilla marketing idea I had. G4Tech TV's "The ScreenSavers" regularly does features on CG production. They recently devoted the better part of entire week to "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow".

So, I've written them an email requesting a piece on ZOIC Studios. I figure it will not only boost interest in the BDM, but possibly get us some bootleg from the picture as well. Who knows? Maybe JW, AB or some other LA-based BDHs might show up, as well...

Here's the content of my letter, for reference, though I'm sure y'all will think of characteristically brilliant selling points of your own:
Quote:

To Whom It May Concern:

Since y'all routinely include segments on the show on the technical aspects of current movies, et cetera, would it be possible to request a feature(tte) on ZOIC studios? They are a CG studio, currently in post-production on the upcoming Universal release, "Serenity".

I think it would be a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at their unique and (Emmy) award-winning methodology. I promise you'll find their work both artistic and revolutionary. Also, given the cult-popularity of "Firefly" (upon which the movie is founded), I could guarantee a rabid studio audience and viewership for the episode. Joss Whedon, the show's creator and director-writer of the film, has a devoted following amongst the computer-literate, and a large contingent of fans within driving distance (okay, and flying distance) of your TV studios.

A fuller description of ZOIC's work may be found on NVidia's site at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/zoic.html

Thanks for listening.

Respectfully,

(Name Withheld for this FFFn post, in order to reduce death threats)

I posted it to:
http://www.g4techtv.com/screensavers/stuff/screensavers_question.aspx

There may be a better venue for the post. If you find one, please post it here so we can all do it the right way. I figure a couple thousand emails ought to get it done. Please feel free to cross-post this idea to the other Firefly boards as well. You needn't attribute the idea to me, unless you just feel moved to do so; I have no problem with that. I'm only interested in this dream becoming a reality...

Thank you for your consideration, and your help in this worthy cause.

Respectfully,

zoid

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This is a great idea Zoid. Thanks for posting it for us to share it.

I will drop an email to them this evening as well. Perhaps w/ ZOICs work on Serenity and the new Battlestar Galactica series, we can get them to feature a show or two about ZOIC.

I'll send one too. though they may ignore me since I tend to email them too often. I'll also post on the boards.

Excellent idea! I LOVE the Screensavers!!! One of the few true "geek" shows out there. Unfortunately, we don't get TechTV on our basic cable, so I can only watch it whenever it's on the preview channel.

Has anybody already posted Zoid's idea to the OB? If not, I'll do it.

P.S.-- Has TechTV changed much since Comcast bought it? There were many excellent shows on that channel, and I'm worried about the changes.

I'd recommend mentioning Battlestar in any letters as well.
