I just thought of this yesterday: would it be possible for 2 firefly's to transfer goods from one ship to another in space? We've seen Serenity docking with multiple other vessels in space, so I guess 2 firefly's can do the same. But one of them would have to fly inverted. That's not the problem, because they have artificial gravity right? That's just problem: when they are docked, with doors still sealed, the gravity on one ship would be the direct opposite of the other one. It surely must give a weird effect when they open the doors...

Not that it's of any importance to the show, I just like to know ;)

America loves a winner!

I guess it would depend on just how the artificial grav actually works. I mean, would being in such close proximity to the other ship screw up each of their grav systems? If not, I suppose they could use magnetic boots to situate themselves on the walls of one air lock, and as they pass through to the other ship, walk up/down the walls untill they reached the floor of the other ship. Might be best to do this maneuver w/ one's eyes closed ?

If I were going to do it, I would opt for zero-g. It would make moving heavy objects a lot easier, and probably safer.

Perhaps the grav from each ship would cancel eachother out resultiing in zero-g in that area.

Don't forget the hatch on the ventral (bottom) of the ship. If that’s capable of docking cargo could be lowered from one and raised up in to the other with that crane.

Also depending on how the AG system works cargo could just be pushed in to the ventral hatch and it would just sit there then the other crew could just pull it up.

If using the two bow hatches wires could be erected between the ends of both cargo bays and the cargo would be moved on those wires much like the cargo transfer during a underway replenishment between a Fast Combat Support Ship and Warship. If you don’t know what I’m talking about look at this pic:

-Note the brown piece of cargo being transferred. If the wire were sufficiently strong and taut the cargo wouldn’t smack on the deck of the receiving ship. This system could also be done with the cargo bays decompressed if unable to dock.

A complete lack of gravity in the airlocks would allow you to resituate yourself and your cargo so you don't land on your head.
