I recently received the following email for my local Fox affiliate in response to an E-mail I sent them. Not sure quite sure what to make of it or how seriously to take it, but here it is.

Dear Mr. Ryan -

The 2 hour special episode of Firefly that aired on Friday (12/20) was the last episode that Fox was contracted to air - they have since pulled the program from the Fox Friday lineup and placed it on hiatus

We have received many request from viewers to keep the show on the air and Fox has assured us that it will be returning (after some retooling of the show) possibly as a mid-season or summer replacement.

Sincerely,

Terri Jensen

Personally, I would trust the word of the creators (Whedon and Minear), over an affiliate representitive. It seems to me that this rep wasn't as informed as the fanbase seems to be! Though, that's not unexpected.

Right now I trust FOX about as much as I would trust a rattlesnake. God damn them. GOD DAMN THEM! I would take the sage advice, and get your Firefly news here.

Viva Firefly!!!!!!

"retooling" eh? Has anybody seen the "Max Power" episode of Simpsons?

Ye gads, this could be worse than a quick and merciful death.

That being said, I still hope for the best.

UNLIKELYCONVERT

I agree with the fate worth than death part. I for one was surprised to find myself liking the first few episodes of Andromeda, despite what, in my eyes, was a really unfortunate choice for a captain. I realy thought the show would work through it's flaws and that the writers had something going there...Until the "retooling" imposed by Tribune turned it into the sorry excuse for a sci-fi show it is today.

Likewise, I wasn't necessarily receptive to the "western in space" concept, but firefly made it work in ways that made it my favourite show this season. I would hate to see it dumbed down and turned into a hollow parody of itself.
