So, once the elections are over and we know who is going to be our next president, what should be our next hot topic?

I'm looking for topics that are off-beat, entertaining, witty and shiney!

We could argue the correct spelling of shiny..but that'd be short-lived.

How about a pool about if there'll be a recount?

How about literally starting the Browncoat Party and planning for 2008?

Now, UncharteredOutlaw, that's an interesting idea for 2008. We could call ourselves the Independent Party or the Fireflys For Freedom Party.

Our ticket could promise that if our candidate was elected, all reality television shows would be cancelled and we'd tax the hell out of all major networks forcing them to declare bankruptcy. That would make way for the new Whedon World Channel along with three new Sci/Fi Channels and another Independent Film Channel.

All scripts for any show must be approved by a Whedon team of writers before being allowed on the air.

We would also implement a strict screening process for all "actors" who wanted to star on television. This would ensure that the only people who could be on television could actually, well.....act. Of course, that might leave us with a small pool of American actors and a large pool of British and Austrailian actors, but that is a good thing.

I think you are really on to something... Opportunities are endless. Looking forward to more ideas!

How about actually discussing FIREFLY and SERENITY!

I'm getting tired of politics on this site.

But there's still five months until Serenity!!!!! We need something to pass the time!!!!

In all seriousness though, I can't help but wonder if the recent proliferation of politics threads is not just because of the election. It's been almost 2 years since Firefly was cancelled; I for one am leery of starting new threads about the show because I figure that whatever I'm going to say has been said before.

But that could just be me .

*sigh* I just can't win...

On another note: if it's possible for something to be Mal-icious is it also possible to catch Simonella?

Yeah, I know that was bad... it's the cold medicine talking, makes everything amusing.

Hey, for you it might have been cancelled 2 years ago, but some of us never even had the chance to see it 'til recently!

I only got the DVDs last week - watched the entire season in 3 evenings, and am now even more peeved that our TV stations are too stupid to buy it and show it

I'm having fun lurking on this site. I don't know anyone else who's seen (or even heard of )Firefly..............

I was going to come up with a list of lines from Firefly that Jayne said that might be construed as his attempts at pickup lines.

Maybe we could post ideas for episodes for if the show hadn't been cancelled.

Maybe we could post showtimes for when movies or shows with cast members from firefly are on.

plan gatherings

share recipes

start a letter writing campaign

discuss where to find clothes similar to those in firefly.

review other firefly web sites.

set up a fireflyfans.net dating service

that's just a few things off the top of my head. but pretty much anything is better than talk of politics. I'd rather hear talk of colonoscopies and papsmears than politics.

Welcome to the fold. I just got into the show in August! As the famous words of Pippin in the Broadway musical, "Pippin:" "Join us, leave your cheese to sour, join us, leave your fields to flower, join us, come and waste an hour or two...doodly doo......."

Thanks!

I'm in the UK, London to be exact, which is why I'm probably now posting at some ridiculous time (it's just gone 10am here)

Diet Coke - don't worry, I spend far far too much time on the net as it is, I can see myself not doing even more stuff to lurk here!

Any interest in talking about Joss' currently ongoing project with an ensemble cast - Astonishing X-Men?
-It's real good.
-You can read the first episode online for free
http://www.marvel.com/dotcomics/index.htm
Click the astonishing X Men 1 link (you need to have javascript enabled and a Flash player).
-Joss has pretty much complete control of it.
-It's going on right now.
-And believe me, you don't really need to have read X-Men before to get it. I haven't read any of the other X-Men series and I understand the action and relationships.
-Plus the art is topnotch.
Give it a chance

Very good point, and one that we would all do well to remember. Some of us have been here for quite awhile, others not so much. I think if someone wants to discuss anything about the show, they should start a thread. If it is something we have discussed, the vets can point the new people to the old thread for them to read, or we can start the conversation anew, adding fresh ideas and comments to the topic.

Just sayin'.

Hmmm. Well, I didn't know you wanted to actually go there. At least you just got a quickie and didn't have to do the stirrup-and-cold-metal/counting-the-holes-in-the-acoustical-ceiling-for-half-an-hour dealy! I seriously think they should put a TV in the ceiling. Any docs out there? Listen up.

Uh-huh! - and dentists, too. You'd have thought sections of the medical fraternity would have cottoned on to this MUCH sooner.

Even better - they could show eps of Firefly for those poor souls of us who are stuck there looking at the ceiling. (Well, maybe not the bits that involve the infirmary. There are some pretty scary metal things in there that would be disconcerting to someone in a doctor's room...)

" Glad to see you back on the boards. I'll see the gang on Saturday. Had much fun having you in NYC. Now, my husband and I need to come and visit you! My dad said Austrailia was his favorite country! "

Hi DietCoke!

Say hi to the gang for me - I posted a link to the photo on this board a while ago - but if they didn't get it, you can find it (and some other pics of my trip) at http://community.webshots.com/user/adelehodge

And I'd love to have you and your hubby come visit. Anytime - you are more than welcome (although I can't return the favour of providing a bona fide Broadway star, sorry!)

Your Dad is right, Australia is a great place (unfortunately 19 hours away by 'plane, or I'd be visiting NYC far more often!)
