Howdy gang,

I'm sure at least some of you folks go to sci-fi conventions, right? And I'm sure all of you folks know that all of these sci-fi conventions have "The Button Lady" working there.

Who is "The Button Lady"? I don't know...I can never tell if it's one person, or a cloned army of similiar looking people, but she is the one with the button press who will make you a bunch of custom buttons for about a buck a four pack.

So get out there, get some buttons made, and wear them. Make some that are injokey, and some that are just attention getting. If someone asks, you have a chance to pounce on then and...uhh..recruit them for the Independance movement.

Also, it's a nice way for Firefly fans who chat on the net to meet each other in...gasp...real life.

Here are some of the buttons I am planning on making. Feel free to steal these if you like. Also, post up some good suggestions for slogans and catch phrases.

"You Can't Take The Sky From Us!" (No brainer)

"Browncoats Unite!"

"Captain, I really think we need to get that new ompression coil...."

"Mine Is An Evil Laugh!"

"The Bible Prohibits Killing People...But It's Fuzzy On The Subject Of Kneecaps."

"Captain, It's time for a FOX hunt."

Eh, in a rush, I might think of more later.

Hmmm... how about a few more mottos?

"Just once I'd like something to go according to the gorram plan."

"I just wanted you to face me so she could get behind you."

"You're afraid we're going to run out of air. That we'll die gasping. But we won't. That's not going to happen. We'll freeze to death first."

"Are you familiar with the writings of Shan Yu?"

"Oh, gawd! What could it beee? We're dooomed! Who's flyin' this thing? Oh. Right. That'd be me. Back to work..."

"You're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater."

"Dear Diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today we were kidnapped by hill folk never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

"Ah, the pitter patter of tiny feet in huge combat boots."

"Hey, one of you is gonna fall and die and I'm not cleaning it up!"

"Hey, I've been in a firefight before! Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity."

"No power in the 'verse can stop me."

History doesn't always repeat itself. Sometimes it merely shouts "Weren't you listening the first time?!?" and lets fly with a club.

How about "Sure thing, Captain Tightpants"

or maybe just "Captain Tightpants"

hehe
I think it would be really nice to make one of those up and send it to Nathan Fillion. Bet it would make his day.

I love the "no power in the 'verse can stop me". That's the one I want to send to the idiots at fox. Along with "curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!"

Oh, I plan on showing up to the next con dressed in a cross of anime and "cowboy" costume pieces, set up a table of postcards, and a jar that says "Serenity's Bail fund"

Co-founder of the Evil Writing Crew - causing hell, one hero at a time!

Anyone planning to be at DunDraCon? Admittedly, it's more of a gaming con than a sci-fi con, but still... :)

BrownCoat, I'm in the Boston area, but I've not heard about this. (I don't usually go to conventions.) What are the details? When, where, how much, etc. . . .

I have a button maker, it makes 1 inch buttons, and would be more than glad to make some avaliable at quite resonable prices, anyone care to design a set of 4 or 5?

I was going to make them anyways, but my time has been VERY limited recently

January 17-19 at the Park Plaza Hotel. Arisia focuses on written SF but if you check out the programming schedule there are a number of Buffy panels, a Farscape panel, etc. It's a big enough con to have something for everyone.
