Absolutely nothing to do with Firefly...

Well, folks, life has ceased to have meaning.

My very beautiful, very amazing, very beloved girlfriend has decided she doesn't know if she wants to be with me, because of various differences in who we are as people...

So, I'm very brokenhearted, very sad, very depressed, and have very little reason to go on...

... sigh...

Alantfrancis wanted me to pass this message onto you as he can't log in at the moment:

If you learn anything from Firefly, is that you should always, just keep flying. You loved her well, that is the greatest gift that anyone can receive. Love is great because at its best, its selfless. Let her go, but you can let her know that you'll always be there for her.Its what you do and the way you live your life is what matters. If nothing we do matters, the only thing that matters is what we do.Life is defined by its hardships and pain. Its what makes the simple things so amazing. There is beauty in what other people see as the mundane, a door being held open for someone, a kind word, if someone looks a little sad, or a kick ass movie being released on 22 April 2005. ;-):DYou have more to give, don't give up, keep flying. Its the bravest and mightiest thing any of us can ever do.

And I'd just like to add that, as shallow as it may seem, the thought of the movie coming out in April often keeps me flying.

Take care

i am sorry. :( i agree with HEB. life has ups and downs. it goes from happy to sad and back again. remember what lorne said about life to the physicist in "happy anniversary":

"it's like a song. now, i can hold a note for a long time. but eventually that's just noise. it's the change we're listening for. the note coming after, and the one after that. that's what makes it music."

i love that line because it is so true. granted, none of us will stop time, but it is important to realize that change is a part of life. that even when things look their darkest, change is always on its way. hang in there.

Badger's Hat:

First of all: Don't even kid around with that "very little reason to go on" stuff. It's self-centered, and I know you're bigger than that, smarter than that. When I say 'self-centered', I don't mean 'egotistical', I mean short-sighted, unable to see beyond this moment.

Think of something devastating that happened to you 5 or 10 years ago. You didn't get the GI Joe with kung fu grip for Christmas... Or you had to settle for second-string on the football team... Or your beloved Cubbies failed to win a Series. All joshing aside, here's the point: Whatever was so crushing to you then hardly seems all that tragic today, does it? That's what I mean by short-sighted.

Take the long view. No quitting. 5 years from now, this memory will still hurt; but you'll have moved on to new joys and miseries.

Second, I'd say you should count yourself lucky. Twice lucky. You're lucky to have been in love, with a girl who was worthy of your love. And you're lucky to have found out that she's a quitter, before you married her. I disagree that you should 'fight' for her affections. Love should never have to be convinced. Love already knows. If she doesn't know, then it's not Love, and you're well away from her.

As much as it hurts to hear it, don't take her back. If she quits you once, she'll quit you again. Like I said, you're lucky you found out now, rather than when you're at your weakest. You know, like if you fell ill, or had to change careers... What if you hadn't found out that she's a quitter until you had a life crisis, and then she decided she wasn't sure about how she felt about you?

I've been in love seven times. Six ended in disappointment; but, they all taught lessons, and informed me. Through the pain, keep an open mind and heart, and try to learn something about yourself in the process.

Hang in there, bud. It doesn't get easier ("Life's a b*tch"), but the journey provides rewards and wonders. There's too much to see and do -- seeing your mother and father in the faces of your children, for instance -- before the final night falls. Don't be in a rush to get it over.

Hell, you might even live to see the Cubbies win it all, if you make it into your nineties...

Perspectively,

zoid

P.S.

Gojiro: I laughed aloud, and my household thought I had finally gone 'round the bend.

... okay, maybe a little over dramatic, what with the "no reason to go on" crap...

It sucks. It's raw, cuz it just happened, so it's still scabbing, so to speak.

Zoid-- you are quite possibly one of the most profound people I... well, not really KNOW, per se, but you get it... thanks for the words... there's a lot going on with this decision of hers, lots of it coming from various aspects of who I am that need some... shall we say, "direction"... not really accurate, I think, to say she's a quitter... actually, more accurate to say she and I are taking a major break, because she's not sure that certain aspects of who I am are what she sees herself able to spend her life with, and, quite honestly, I can't totally fault her for it.

Mal-- yes, I'll always have you, and I'm eternally grateful... by the way, is there a picture of my precious Mal-licious floating around, just so I know a face with the eternity?

Gojiro-- gotta say, I about choked on my Dasani when I read your response... then, of course, I e-mailed that exact quote to pretty much anyone I'd ever heard of...

Heb and Alantfrancis-- I gotta say, most of what you said, I think I should tell to her! Makes sense.

Est-- I had forgotten that line. Also makes sense, and also something I should tell her, I think.

Agehn-- I'm glad I helped inspire you, and I hope you enjoy your hat

pizmobeach-- don't worry, I have to disagree slightly with Zoid, and I do very much NOT intend to let her go without a fight. And yes, I've had my heart broken a time or three before, just not quite like this (the night I met her, I knew I wanted to spend my life with her)

Veteran-- I know, I was being a tad dramatic... I'm past that part now, don't worry

Auraptor-- Stripes rules, think I'll watch it tomorrow night... after "Lost" that is...

Thanks folks. Very much appreciate your words.

Well, keep your chin up, boyo. Like you, I only know you by your words on this board; but, I think you are 'good enough' and a worthy person, just as you are. We should all strive to improve ourselves throughout our lives; but, we must be acceptable as we are, unconditionally. You're willing to accept her -- warts and all -- are you not?

As a final note, consider this truth: Know how to get a cat to sit on your lap? Ignore it. (EDIT: For maximum effect, shun it)

Very Respectfully,

zoid

P.S.
If your personal shortcomings are in the nature of physically unhealthy habits, that's something that needs immediate attention. On the other hand, if it's just laziness, untidiness and/or cussin' too much (as in: 'being a guy'), then 'lishus or one of her minions should get the call out of the bullpen, because your starter's out of gas. I think you're a good person, and I'm sticking up for you, even if you won't, and even if you don't want me to...

Hang in there, Hat.

I have had problems in relationships that were caused because I was "difficult".

That is to say, I did not always agree with my beloved, but rather had opinions of my own! Also, I actually had friends that were not HER.

Of course, I do not know the details of your situation. You will have to judge whether or not this lady is worth fighting for, but if you care to hear my advice, it is this:

Do not sacrifice YOURSELF to get her back.

Make adjustments in your life to please her, if you care to, but do not give up YOURSELF.

Take care.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

BadgersHat, let me first say how sorry I am to hear about your split w/ your girlfriend. I know words don't alleviate the pain, but if you think about the sincere sentiment being expressed by your Browncoat comrades here, I think you will see that you have people that support and care about you here.

I agree that Zoid is perhaps the most eloquent and insightful person who posts here, and I agree w/ everything he said in his first post.

Love should never be forced. It simply happens. Sometimes it endures, sometimes it flickers out. Do not blame yourself. People grow, mature and change. When that happens they find that their needs and their perceptions change. Life is like that unfortunately, but I agree w/ Zoid that it is better to find that out now than after you had married her or worse been married to her and had children.

I also agree that trying to win her back is not really an option. If she left, she may very well leave again. Better to make a clean break, split as friends and drive on.

Time will ease the pain my friend. Take it from someone who has been there. Just keep flyin'. I know it doesn't seem like much now, but it's something. Keep your friends and family close and you will get through this, believe me.

Take care.

Hat,
I know right where you are coming from brother. I've had my heart broken every year for as long as I can remember. I remember back in the 70's my dear beloved Bosox dropped the series to the Reds. Oh death, where is thy sting!

In the 80's they dropped to the Mets! The METS! Truly, can a person die from a broken heart.

And there year after year there was the Yankees. And the Yankee fans. Oh how I loathed them. In my wretched agony I thought how sweet life would have been if Al Quaida had flown planes into Yankee stadium. But this thought shocked me out of my madness.

And this past year when all looked hopeless. The Bosox were down 3-0 after geting trounced by the Yankees in the first game at sacred Fenway park. I called home to see if my friends, my lifelong Sox loving friends were still with me, and I heard the "s" word. That's right, they were talking about how it looked like the Yankees were going to sweep them. I could not believe my ears. I told them the Sox were going to come back and win 4-3 and then go on to win the World Series. The most beautiful sound in the world is 50,000 Yankee fans shutting the h*ll up.

Here's hoping you don't have to wait 86 years for light to come back into your life.

'Creme Brulee'? 'Crystal Brown'? Help a sixteen crayola guy out here. Was it red, strawberry blonde, or a medium blonde? Is it going to be dark, light or medium brown this weekend? How can 'Crystal Brown' be someone's natural color, if you buy it in a box?

As to 'Babe-raham Lincoln', it was a "Wayne's World" reference. But you're probably right, it may not have been the most apt; I always felt his beard was too bushy. I mean, if it's going to go wild like that, shave the damn thing!

So how about: "If you were bubble gum, you'd be Babe-a-licious!" Surely you can't find fault in that...

How about it IS a golden blonde and it WILL BE a light brown this weekend? The crystal brown is as close to my natural color as one can buy in a box. Jeez. Mmmm-a-licious:

Have you really never had someone so interested in your hair before? Poor 'lish!

While I must admit a fondness for just about everything feminine, a nice, thick, scented head of hair is irresistible. I'm drawn to dark-eyed brunettes, more than blondes; but, light brown sounds enticing.

What about your eyes? Has no one ever waxed poetic over them? What about your radiant smile? It was the first thing I noticed in the photos of you. I'd love to hear you laugh. Has no one ever said that to you, either?

C'mon... I know there's a man in your life, who loves you to the depths of his soul; some things are as certain as gravity.

Were I not married... Well, let's just say, "Because you're pretty", and leave it at that.

Hat me man - seems like your gettin' it together. Press ahead - and remember: Fear is the Mind Killer and Panic is it's squatty evil minion.

And about Mal-icous ...

I am agast at the thought that her finely curved and sculpted calves escaped notice!

SHAME ON ALL YOU RED-BLOODED MALES and BIs!!!

A calf and leg that sweeps in wondrous arc that reminds one of classic Grecian beauty. A sculpted curve that draws the eye and causes the heart to begin to pound.

And no, I am not JUST a leg man -- it is form, balance and artistic style that matters.

I doff me pirate'n tricorne and bow deep at ya Malicious, me beauty!

"Remember, there is only ONE absolute - There ARE NO absolutes!!!"

Um, I happened to stumble on this post dear and I have to note that I, firefloozysuzie, am IN THIS PICTURE so, to be fair, we must credit Bonnet Bob with taking this most-excellent photo of us Trivia Bee lovelies. The only credit I deserve is for POSTING the pics

Hope your pal Jefe Hat is feeling better...

Capnrahn,

Dude, you would SO get laid for that post! This is now, officially, the best thread EVER.

Suze,

I'm sorry! I did not give BonnetBob props! Tell him it is a well taken photo-with all of us lovelies in it-and that I could get "some" because of it!! Give him proper thanks, if you know what I mean.

Hahahah, everyone. Just some humor. Let's not get our boxers in a twist.

ZOID

CapnRahn:

Well, if we're gonna go there -- and 'lishus certainly seems amenable -- I'm unapologetically a breast man. My ancestors, the French, have a saying: "A woman without breasts is like a bed without pillows".

My favorite female on Firefly is YoSaffBridge, primarily for this reason; although you cannot overlook her mesmerizing mouth, either. Again, a French thing...

Mmmm-a-licious fits the bill, on all counts.

Specifically,

zoid

P.S.
I still insist that running my fingers through a woman's hair has a narcotic effect on me. Coupled with big dark eyes, a beautiful smile and laughter like music from heaven, I can forget all my troubles and bask in the warm glow of her presence. In case you hadn't guessed, I've just described my wife, Kayley. I am truly the luckiest man who ever lived.

Mal-licious,

I'll make sure Bonnet Bob is, er, suitably rewarded. Mind if I tell him that "this one" was YOUR idea?

By the way, what's this rumor about your birthday?
And this other rumor about guys panting over your shapely calves? Man, next time I hit a convention,
I surely want to be in YOUR entourage, because you
do seem to attract some favorable attention. ;-)

Suze,

It's news to me! I'm just a plain, average, ordinary looking female. These guys are just hard-up, methinks. But keep that just between us, ok?

And hell yes, tell Bob it was my idea! I need all the good karma I can get!

Also, yes today was Birthday. November is Birth Month and the 18th was Birthday Eve. It's an event around these parts. Half Birthday is May 19th, by the way. Only 180 more shopping days!

Zoid, hon, I will PAY to have you (or anyone for that matter) run some fingers through my hair. I LOVE that. I litterally purr and go all melt-y.

PIRATEJENNY

If you really love her fight for her...
surprise her hire a band to sing love songs in front of her house in the middle of the night.. with you seranading or something like that send her a one single flower a day for a month at her job....write her poems ..don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself

women love a men who are brave enough to make a fool of themselves for love..

at least if nothing else you can say you gave it your all that way you won't have any regretts ..the opposite might happen she maybe the one that has regretts if it doesn't work out!!
