I should add it in this thread too -

with the recent bad news of the BDM delay, I realised one POSITIVE thing. It will still be in theaters during the next PA Shindig! We can all see it together! :)

Suze,

NYE would be a good start! Then perhaps we could have a spring shindig? Then it would be just a hop, skip and a jump until the end of September. Or so I would like to think.

<<>> Yes, at least we'll have New Years. I guess we could find a Convention or a Shindig for the spring.

And, let's look at the bright side, shall we? When the movie comes out, then Firefly will get to be such a big hairy deal. We'll probably have less opportunity for contact with our BDH after Serenity captures the rest of the world.

So, if you think of it, we get a half year longer time to enjoy building the browncoat legions and savoring our special relationship with Firefly. Right? Yes. We should take advantage of our head start. Book our Firefly Serenity Cruise now before the rest of the world clamors for tickets :)

OK, Ceph, NO protein cubes for you!
You may have this here can opener and these remaining unlabeled cans. Have a nice mystery meal! Don't forget to add Rosemary!

MEanwhile....

Big announcement from us: Sami and I bought tickets to the Thistle Heathrow (UK) Firefly con.

If we can't go a gorram springtime BDM premiere in LA, we will go to London to hobnob with British Browncoats and see our BDH live and in person.

If it means taking out a bigger mortgage on the house, I don't care. My daughter pleaded to go, and our college pal in Edinburgh begged us to visit, and we are going.

Anybody else want to go deeply into hock and go with us ??? It sounds so shiny :-) - lots of parties!

You two lucky Browncoats you. Ah well, I'll just look forward to the next PA Shindig. Maybe we should invite the BDHs to come to it. ;) It could be like a Firefly outdoors convention. Guests are often paid, I'm sure we'd all be willing to chip in, and also pay good prices for auctioned DVDs.

The flight is not the worst part of it money wise. Finding a place to stay is. Wish my uncle was still stationed over there ah well. When is it exactly? Can you give me a link to a thread on it or something?

I need help from the PA Shindig folks. I would like to invite you to a Firefly Holiday Bash at my place but I only want to invite people that I know from the PA Shindig. And of course I don't want to post all of my info here on-line. Any idea on how I can do that?

Thanks!

Here's the thread where they're discussing the UK Serenity Con...links to actual site are at the top of the thread.

Yea, the room-rates are killer. We're going to blow a lot of money on train trip to Edinburgh as well (at least once there, we've got a free place to crash for a night).

Dietcoke,

Could you hijack MyOrangeHat's message board OR get a copy of the long-awaited contact list?

That's my low-tech advice, for what it's worth ;-)

I think I am going to have to pass on England. Even Icelandir which is usally really cheap from Boston looks pricy. Weak dollar sucks. Would rather save the moola for a possible trip to LA for the premier or something... though there is a major scifi con here in Boston on Sept 30. We Beantown Browncoats are thinking of parleying it in a Shindig/premier party especially if some of our BDHs end up on the guest list. Joss has attended it in the past. We shall see. Will keep you all informed.

*big hugs* I'm so sorry about your family situation. My mom is one of my best friends. I would feel totally alone if she wasn't talking to me. I hope you are coping well and getting the support you need from your fellow borwncoats.

But I didn't post to remind you of sad things...

I know how to get ahold of Gunhand! I talk to him a couple times a week. He has had computer problems for months that have made it impossible for him to get on FFF.net and lately the situation has deteriorated to the point that he can't get online at all. I can, however pass on any messages and/or email addresses to him. When he gets back online, I'm sure he would love to talk to you. He is kinda depressed now, too and I know he could use the legendary Browncoat Support System himself. You can email me at kmschulz(at)yahoo(dot)com and I will make sure he gets the message.

I wish I had known there were so many local browncoats without NYE plans... I don't know what I am doing either, but I would have certainly considered hosting or co-hosting something. I would love to spend NYE with a group of rabid FF fans!

Hmm... Is anyone gonna be in the NYC area?

I haven't spoken to my father in 3 years and I also have lost all but one of my friends, in part due to the marriage break-up situation. Another friend whom I met here on FFF.net, Gunhand, has gone missing. We used to spend hours and hours chatting every day for months and months and now nothing. I'm with Badgershat/Jefe/El Magnifico: it makes you not want to go on. I am avoiding all evidence of the holidays this year. I will be done school for 2 monts and plan to read every waking moment that I am not at work. I have a pile of books just waiting for me to dive into them. Books are my oldest friends anyway!

Thanks to Rob for the List of Important Contacts.

Now I'd like to address Missing Shindig Folk such as a certain Red Bell Holder. Get a-hold of US with your contact information, ok? Especially if we're still thinking of getting some sort of NYE thing together?

By the way, New York Meetup types: Me and the daughter were in the City yesterday and we waved at you, sort of. Didja see us? I had a blue jacket and the daughter had her HS letter jacket...;-)
