Toronto Shindig (#3)

Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 7:00pm

Elephant and Castle
378 Yonge Street
Downtown Toronto
South, west corner of Yonge and Gerrard

A short walk south from the College subway stop.
Plenty of pay parking across the street from the E&C.

We have the entire upstairs area of the E&C to move around and make noise.

We had 12 browncoats at our first shindig, 21 at our second, I am curious to see how many we get this time.

Hope to see those of you in the area there.

Please RSVP to canadianbrowncoats@hotmail.com or join the Canadian Browncoats on yahoo and vote that you will be attending on the Polls there.

Hmmm...
That's the weekend of my birthday. And I've always wanted to go to Toronto...

I'll think on it.

I'm quite interested in going. I wasn't able go to the last one due to the lack of funds. You'll see how I'm an insane scaper and you can pass me browncoat. I recomend posting on the Spaceboard again. Is there a minimum charge?

Would it be OK if I posted non-Serenity events?
Also I highly recomend attending a Spaceboard meetup. We just had our first Torono event hosted by a kind memeber of the board, but only Farscape fans ahowed up and I think she'd really like to broaden things. Also two employees of the Space channel showed up so it pays to go to many meetups.

The next shindig was posted on Spacecast.

Cost should be about $25.

I will have to skip the Spacecast meetups. I organize the Buffy, James Marsters and Firefly meetups as well as do the Firefly Shindigs so I am spread a bit thin as far as meetups go.

If anyone else is interested in coming to the Toronto Shindig, here are the details again.

Saturday, February 5 @ 7pm
Elephant and Castle (upstairs)
378 Yonge Street (Yonge and Gerrard)
Downtown Toronto
Pay parking across the street.
Just south of the College subway.

Hope you can make it out. It should be a fun night.

We where thinking of having a small writing challenge for anyone who is into that sort of thing. We are going to get them to pull two or three names of Firefly characters out of a hat as well as a theme or object and then they have to write a very short story about it. Then they can read them to the group. It should prove to be very funny, especially if people have been enjoying the fine beer at the pub. ;)

Does the cost include food? I bumped your thread on the Space board. Umm some people have cost concerns on the Spaceboard so could you make that a bit clearer? I really like the writing challenge idea. Have you tried the Toronto Trek message board? I know of some rabid Whedon fans there.

Also you could try this place: http://bbs.rustaz.com/

I've heard it has many Canadians on that board. I've never posted there myself though.

Well gee, that's a whole 100 meters from my school, guess I've run out of excuses.

The Elephant and Castle is a nice little place, the "upstairs", which is just an elevated section over the kitchen, is pretty cozy and really bad for any kind of business meeting because of that ... The food's a bit pricey but generally good.

See some of you there

It's been non-smoking for a while now so smoke won't be a problem.

There is no cost to get in, but the average price of a meal with drink will run about $20-$25.

It's pretty reasonable compared to most places.

Cheers!

Yes, it has been listed on the Toronto Trek message boards for a while now.
