I hadn't read this one before:

"To Serenity...and Beyond"
http://www.unfiction.com/~tienle/firefly.html

The author brings up something I hadn't even considered:

Quote:

Most dangerous character: Badger. He's been on Serenity and gotten a good long look at Simon and River, plus he reads the bulletins on the Cortex. How long before he gets greedy and decides to cash in?

Sadly, the actor who plays Badger passed away. Should be interesting to see what sort of effect this has on Firefly if it sees the light of day again....

Say what? We exchanged emails before the holidays. And, in fact, he was last on this site on November 11th. So what happened?

BTW, we interviewed him once:

I'm sorry, I don't remember much about it, but I do remember seeing some sort of site memorializing him...it was less than a month ago, that's for sure.

I could be wrong, it was very late at the time, and I apologize if I'm wrong (I hope that I am)

I remember it was MONTHS before I knew Kevin Smith (The one who played Ares on Xena) was killed, so it might take a while to filter through the news. Not sure...

IMDB says the actor's name is Mark Sheppard and it doesn't indicate that he's dead.

Are you possibly thinking of Glenn Quinn, who played Doyle on "Angel"? He did pass away quite recently.

didn't kevin smith(of xena) die in febuary of last year? if Mark Sheppard(badger) died before that I don't think he would have been able to shoot any episodes of firefly or any of the movies he has coming out soon.

what single solitary piece of evidence do you have to support your theory? Way to go, genius! Thanks. Mark A Sheppard. (Badger)

Mr. Sheppard,

Oh Thank God! You're here. I almost went into a mild heart attack reading that second post. Whew!

P.S. I'm praying for you and the rest of the cast and crew of "Firefly" to 'keep on flyin.'

Sorry everyone, especially to you Mr. Sheppard. Don't ask me HOW the hell I got you stuck in my head in the same space as Glenn Quinn...

On the plus side, it seems that on this site, the stars personally come out to clear up rumors of their recent demise! Hmmmm...

I recently heard that Nathan....nah...not gonna go there.

There's yet another article that references Firefly, though it's not about the show, per se.

The relevent quote is:

There's no sport, and absolutely no joy, in recounting the many sins of "Abby," so I won't bother. After tonight's premiere, "Abby" moves to its regular time slot of Tuesdays at 9:30, the final salvo in a newly amassed "Girls Night" on UPN that also includes "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Girlfriends."

"Girlfriends," a good, smart comedy, doesn't necessarily make for a bad pairing, though what UPN should do is rescue Joss Whedon's "Firefly" from its Fox doghouse and put "Buffy" and "Firefly," two Whedon shows, together on Tuesdays. The only shows that seem worthy of pairing with "Abby" are long-gone train wrecks like "The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer" and "Homeboys in Outer Space."

Mr. Sheppard, I'm too am glad you're still with us. This sort of thing happened to Mark Twain once. He had to write to the newspapers stating, "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Anyway, since I don't pray anymore, I really, REALLY hope Firefly flies again real soon. Best of luck, sir.

VIVA FIREFLY!
