Hi. My name is Mary Lewys; I’m a freelance, anti-pop culture writer looking to do an article on the Darkside of Fandom. Whether going to conventions or events or even online, I’m sure everyone has encountered, witnessed or experienced a fellow fan that just made you a bit uncomfortable with your own fan-ness. I want to hear about it.

What I want to do, to keep confidentiality and whatnot, is have those of you interested in participating in my article to email me at mlewys@yahoo.com with a short, brief note stating you’d like to join in the fun. Or, if you’ve got any questions, feel free to include those too.

A writer of stuff that's cool, but not 'in'. You know, that stuff that's just smart, funny, and definately "cool" but that sheeping masses know nothing about.

Phew, you had me worried there. I thought you were a writer who wrote scathing articles about the evils and/or complete lameness of pop culture in general (you know, the kind of person whose mantra is "I've never watched TV and I ONLY listen to local bands and will ONLY go see a movie if it's foreign and made for less than $10,000 and I ONLY buy second-hand clothes". And yes I can make fun of people like that because I was like that in high school!!!).

(edit) In other words, you're not categorically anti-pop-culture, you just write about things that aren't all mainstream?
