And then days, weeks months(?) later, we've got incoming objects? Sorry, I tried to watch, but had to bail before the end of the 1st episode. Just bad science. Like really stupid bad. Vega made sense ( Contact ) because it's close enough for it to receive and then send back a signal. Nothing beyond 100 light years would be eligible, say for straight up dumb luck. Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen I'm just a red pill guy in a room full of blue pill addicts. And just River is pretty tetchy "science." Besides "silence in space" I'm sure there are plenty of holes. You failed to capitalize "Firefly" btw - science!

A bit tedius, things that were so forced and a bit too cliche (black dude with a gun in a convenience store gets caught by the white owner - cue the racial tension). If you can stay in an empty hotel why not the penthouse? Military personal that don't know enough to take cover when being shot at (especially by an amazing shot). And what the eff were they doing away from their barracks? Shopping? The scientist and the little girl run INTO the building that the aliens are on top of... my god. Even the music and sound score - which I thought were good at first - starting getting a bit much. The only thing that saved it was the last scene where the Boston Dynamics 'bot chased that human down - that was pretty cool and "we're so screwed" kind of way.

I said ' more accurate ', not absolutely and totally … even The Martian took liberties. I can't say what the economic situation is or how much 'space fuel ' cost in the Firefly 'verse. See, there are 2 parts to the genre of science FICTION. Please make a note of it.

Space fuel costs vary from place to place, anywhere between the cost of a large Mudder's Milk and a half hour with a space whore.
