I need to get 'yes we will be there input from folks' and how many tickets per post please. I am posting this on a few message boards, if you say yes on one message board, please do not reply on another so that I can keep track of numbers.

Here is the info:

"Hi Folks:

Thanks for offering to help get the word out on a possible Firefly reception
at Grand Slam for Nathan and Adam. In order to make this work we'd need to
get a guarantee of at least 50 people. The cost would be $65 per person and
it would be held at Delmonicos, the fantastic restaurant across the street
from the Pasadena Center. It would be a Happy Hour (probably 5-6 pm) on Saturday.
March 12 and the menu would feature:
- Stuffed Mushrooms
- Chicken Skewers
- Seafood Cakes
- Veggie Platters with Dips
As well as complimentary Well Cocktails, House Wine and Draft Beer.

If you can get us at least 50 people to guarantee they will buy tickets to
this function we'll make it happen. FYI the day is subject to change
depending on the Serenity shooting schedule."

Thank you for your replies! :)

Also I just checked and you don't have to attend Grand Slam to attend the reception.

Also, fyi, you do not have to buy con tickets to be able to buy reception tickets. Here is the url for convention information:

http://www.creationent.com/cal/stgs.htm

The general admission tickets have not been listed yet.

This reception will not be added to the convention events if I/we can't get 50 people to commit to buying tickets.

How many LA browncoats are there anyway?

I'm not sure how many LA browncoats there are online, but there are alot in real life. Last year the LA Comic-Con (a Firefly exclusive event on a Sunday only) had over 500 attendees and it was very last minute (although there were a few of us who flew in but we were by far the minority).

Oh well, at least I tried to spread the word, I guess I overestimated how many LA area fans are online...

I don't know if I can make it to Pasadena for the big con. I am going to a local creation held con in Seattle may 13-15. Its being touted as a Xena and women of sci-fi. With the lovely Gina having a history with both Xena and herc I was Hoping they would invite her. While they were at it the rest of the ladies would be really keen to. It has become a bit of a tradition for me and my nephew to do these local cons. I am having a bot of a problem getting through to the Creation people how much we want to support our sci-fi here in the pacific northwest. To those of you in co. Cal. Please if you have any connections to either Joss' people or the Creation crew, let them know there are lots of fans and manny possible converts please send Serenity crew to Seattle. Thanks for letting me rant

Absolutely! :)

I will do anything I can! :)

The reason I am so keen on having this reception work is I have been nagging (nicely of course :)) for Firefly stuff for awhile claiming that the market is out there and I am (today's three yeahs helped though) getting nervous that maybe I was wrong.

Sorry! I was going to come out for the Grand Slam but decided to go to Thistle Heathrow Con and blow my nearly-worthless dollars in England.

If it's any help, I heard that last year's Grand Slam was fantastic, and I will bump this thread with the recommendation that folks should strongly consider going.

BTW, have you cross-posted this to the prospero bd?

I would love to go to that one, but I am commited to waaaayy too many conventions next year! ;)

Grand Slam is always a blast, but if this reception happens... then wow!

I crossposted this here, prospero and the Serenity board, hopefully as people come back from the holidays I will get more positive responses!

Morning!

My friend mentioned the reception on a board she frequents and she's already had one response. I've asked her to email me and I'll provide her with the link here, so hopefully another one will be added to the list.

Also, I'm in a posting group and I'd be happy to send an email out through them - it might well spread from there. Let me know if you'd like me to do that and I'll follow up from there.

Thanks!!

Cool!

Yep, I'm that old... ;)

I only know some of her songs that were videos back when MTV played music videos... ;)

Even though I selfishly do want this to happen, I also want it to happen for all Browncoats because if we can prove there is a demand for exclusively Firefly content then we might get more exclusive con events or even cons! :)

Last year at Grand Slam they had a Stargate breakfast that sold out very quickly and Amanda and Michael were at the con itself and got a fantastic crowd reaction and this year there are *all* kinds of Stargate conventions all over the US. I was kind of hoping that could happen to us...

Thanks again for your help! :)

Will post more the moment I know, but for now it's just silly old me. And happy!

How much is it to attend Grand Slam? I looked on their website and saw a bunch of ticket prices to have your picture taken with a star and I saw this golden ticket thing that was $400 which I would not shell out to go.

FYI, you don't need to attend Grand Slam to attend the reception (reception is going to be $65, if it happens). However the only ticket prices they have listed now are the gold tickets which are three day packages with perks. They will list additional ticket options soon I believe. Usually they have a cheaper three day ticket behind the gold then they have daily reserved and then they have general admission tickets. If you look around their other cons that are coming up before Grand Slam you can see roughly what their usual pricing structure is. A little bit for each taste! ;)

Latest tally:

Officially 29 to go, however more than likely only 20 to go since there is a group of 9 Browncoats who are going to Grand Slam and the one person who commited (oh yeah, so that makes it 28 officially to go) says they are pretty much 100% sure the other 8 will go...

Hi, just joined the group. I will be going to Pasadena from Sacramento and would love to come to the reception.

When I am not working my day job or watching Firefly, I do professional photography. If you would like coverage of the event, I would be glad to do it free of charge for all the Firefly fans out there.

I've been to a Creation event at that restaurant before and (1) the place is lovely, (2) the food is great, and (3) you tend to get semi-casual, quality face time with the guests. So - heck, yeah!! I'd be up for it, along with at least two friends.
