I think at this point they would have to start all over, the graphics would be way outdated. If they do start over, hopefully they could still use the voice acting from the cast. It would be a shame if Ron Glass’s last performance as Book was forever lost.

Lol, I'm still using a computer from 2013.

Has that much changed in 4 years?

Maybe with Disney owning FOX now maybe it will finally get finished. I was so disappointed that it never got released.

Yeah. I just watched somebody play a remake of a PS2 classic called Demon's Souls that was redone for the PS5. It's gorgeous.

My computers are 2013 and 2007, and can barely do email anymore with how bloated Windows 10 and the internet in general has become.

I think it might be time we updated.

Have you ever heard of Woot.com? I'd used it on and off since around 2006. Back then, they were their own company and only sold a single item every 24 hours or until sold out. Any surplus that hadn't been sold in a day was saved for a "Woot Off" where they'd mark them down even more and nobody would get to see what deal was up next until the current item was bought out. Pretty good business model, if you ask me.

Amazon must have thought so too, since they own it now.

Anyway... If you're looking for a cheap option to upgrade your computer, they have refurbished laptops, desktops and all-in-ones on there all the time. Usually you have about a week to decide if you find one you like (or until it's sold out).

I almost bought one for $320 last week, but ultimately decided that I can still get by on mine for the time being and I have too much work to do to justify it, since the only real reason I'd be upgrading is to play games that I can't play now.

But $320 would run circles around what I've got now. There have been some major tech upgrades made in the last decade. Most of them weren't even around in 2013 when I put my last PC together, and the ones that were cost way more than I would have paid for them at the time.

The memory is faster, the CPUs have more cores, the graphics cards are more powerful... but that always happens over time. The bigger changes now are the Solid State Hard Drives (SSD) that have no mechanical parts and are lightning fast compared to the old hard drives with platters, and (in the case of Intel based systems) the Optane Memory card, which is a 16GB or 32GB SSD addition to the board which makes your computer boot up almost instantly and adapts to the programs you use most often to make programs load much quicker than you're used to. Kind of like a page file on steroids.

Another huge difference is the fact that a lot of these motherboards come with a GPU integrated right on the board. What this means is that for most people outside of gamers, you can save the money you'd normally have to spend on even a basic graphics card and put that toward more memory or storage. The integrated graphics on these boards now is really good.

And if you decided later you wanted to add a graphics card, you can always buy one if you bought a desktop. You could always upgrade to more memory you catch on sale with a desktop too. There is some room for upgrading the laptops and all-in-ones, but you're a lot more limited on what you can do with them.

The $320 computer I was looking at had a 6 core Intel processor with a 1TB SSD and 16GB Optane memory and 8GB of DDR4 ram.

My 2013 computer has a 4 core AMD processor, 1TB 7200RPM platter hard drive with 16GB of slower DDR3 ram. It chugs in 2021. My 2007 computer with a 2 core Intel processor and 4GB of DDR2 ram can barely even function anymore and it's a marvel that it can even run Windows 10.

And to put the ever-falling prices of tech a little more into perspective, when I was looking into buying a SSD to update the 2007 computer around Thanksgiving of 2019, a 1TB SSD alone cost half of what that $320 with a 1TB SSD costs today.

Anyway... Check out this link: https://www.woot.com/category/computers?ref=w_ngh_cp_5

If you scroll down a bit, they have buttons to click for the different types of computers they have on offer. Those lists are updated all the time. Don't let yourself feel pressured to buy one because of the time limit. There's always another one out there that's comparable in specs and price.

Caveat: Just because Woot is an Amazon subsidiary, that doesn't mean that they will honor Amazon's excellent return policies. I've got some experience with Amazon in that arena and can say that at least for now they're all about 100% customer satisfaction when you make a purchase. It might be harder to do a return with Woot if there's a problem with your order. I'll try to remember to clarify that here whenever I get around to figuring that out. I've made smaller orders from them with mostly non-electronics stuff and never had a problem with an order, but I wouldn't make a bigger purchase like this unless I knew I was protected first.
