I'm sorry--I clearly missed a prior thread on this. Can you post a brief description of the event itself (the Delmonico's event, not the Grand Slam).

Thanks!

Lee

Absolutely! :)

Here is the previous thread:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=8309

And here is the description from Creation:
"Thanks for offering to help get the word out on a possible Firefly reception
at Grand Slam for Nathan and Adam. In order to make this work we'd need to
get a guarantee of at least 50 people. The cost would be $65 per person and
it would be held at Delmonicos, the fantastic restaurant across the street
from the Pasadena Center. It would be a Happy Hour (probably 5-6 pm) on Saturday.
March 12 and the menu would feature:
- Stuffed Mushrooms
- Chicken Skewers
- Seafood Cakes
- Veggie Platters with Dips
As well as complimentary Well Cocktails, House Wine and Draft Beer.

If you can get us at least 50 people to guarantee they will buy tickets to
this function we'll make it happen. FYI the day is subject to change
depending on the Serenity shooting schedule."

P.S. Also it is not required that you buy Grand Slam tickets to attend this.

Mal: Well, we're still flyin'.
Simon: That's not much.
Mal: It's enough.

Thanks a bunch; I also found your original thread.

I doubt I can make it (besides, what the hell would I say to Nathan or Adam anyway? "Hi, like the show, can't wait for the movie"?), but thank you for putting such great effort into making the thing happen. If I can move my schedule around and come, I'll let you know ASAP!

Thanks again,

Lee

You are very welcome! :)

Usually at these types of events the talent is very outgoing so they help the conversation along. You can also take candid pictures with them sometimes and you also get to meet shiny other Firefly fans! :)

Hope it works out!

Yeah, I know, I've been to these things, and it's usually awkward as hell. I'm an old-time fan; I remember sitting through too many dinners with the guest talent, watching everyone try to chat when we don't know the first damn thing about each other. And I'm not the photo type!

But I'm thrilled for those of you who don't feel that way, and can enjoy such encounters. I'd happily come to talk to other browncoats, but everyone there will be wanting to talk to Nathan and Adam, and I can't blame them for that!

Yep, I know awkward, like when my hubby (my fault because I drag him to these things) told the guest that he had not watched the show he was on. I usually have a blast at them, the more I go to them the more comfortable I am getting at talking to the guests (and the fans), and at one of the last ones I went to I found out that I am most likely related to the actor, that was really funny! :)

LOL about your husband! I think you should leave him in the hotel room or the dealer's room. That's cool about the relationship thing.

I do NOT want to talk to Adam--his politics and mine are world's apart, and if he starts up, I will have to walk away. (I would never bring it up, as I feel people are entitled to their differences, and know better than to try to convert someone with such strong opinions, anyway!)

I'd probably get more from a panel situation, as I'd like to hear the two of them talk about the movie, their characters, etc. I loved the LA Comic Con panel back in Dec. 2003; that was amazing. The SD Comic Con panel was good, too, except that the audience kept asking Joss questions about Buffy and Angel, so the nine brilliant FF actors were just sitting there too much of the time. Grrrrr!

I agree with you about Adam, however I would have a tendency to think that he has enough sense not to bring politics up in this situation! ;)

I love panels and I was also at those two cons and the December one gave us a lot more information. I understand that people have been fans of Angel and Buffy longer than Firefly but it was a Firefly panel!!!! The most fun panel situation I have been at recently was Ben Browder and Claudia Black together for three hours on stage, I don't think I have laughed so hard in years if ever! Even hubby had a great time and found it so interesting he stopped taking pictures (he is the photographer for us ;).

Claudia and Ben for three hours? Oh, that must have been amazing! See, that's why I like panels best!

Thank you all!!!! :)

Hi there! I'm awaiting a response from my friend - then I'll know if I'm sending money for one or two.

Have you received commitments for the 50 people yet and, if not, should we still help spread the word around? Is there a specific date that you need to have the money together by? (details, details...)

Thanks so much!

Hello!

I got over 50 yeahs but so far I only have the moola for 13 tickets. Please feel free to keep spreading the word around, the 50 is only the minimum! :)

I don't have a specific due date yet (the word 'soon' was used today), however considering there are only 7 weeks left I would think I need to send the total *real* soon.

Thank you for everything!! :)

And a bump for the folks who might not read the news.

I have not been given a deadline yet, but I am sure it is going to be really, really soon. If you have not done so, please send your money for the ticket(s) ASAP. I will be posting initials and number of ticket requests I have already received in the next few days, and we are *nowhere* near 50 yet... :(

Mal: Well, we're still flyin'.
Simon: That's not much.

Here is the tally so far:

KF 2
CF 2
JF 3
CS 2
DJ 1
TC 2
KN 1
TG 1
HM 2
SB 1
Me 2

For all the folks who said that yes they would go and have not sent their money in yet, please send it in ASAP. I asked Creation to go ahead with the reservations for this event *only* after I received over 50 yeahs, if I don't get the money for 50 pre-sale tickets then not only do none of us from the boards get to go but Browncoats who are not part of any online communities will not have a chance to go either since the event will not take place!!!

Thanks to all of you who are helping me try to make this happen!!!!! :)

And a bump!

Let's prove to the convention world that there is demand for Firefly stuff!!! If we prove there is a market out there, there will be more events planned!!!
