I have no idea what HBO's budget is, but they did well with the Sopranos and Sex and the City.

I think it would be great if Firefly could find a home there (since there's nowhere else!).

R-Rated Firefly? The crew could cuss and say the F-word and we could watch some great violent scenes, maybe see more of Inara in action.

What do you all think?

I think it'd be fun. The problem I see with it is that I _think_ HBO only does in-house stuff. Meaning they have some sort of policy about not paying, for example, 20th Fox to make shows for them.

Showtime seems a little more possible, but not likely. Didn't they originally do SG1? And didn't they have a few sci-fi shows on? I don't know what their production policies are, or if they are even remotely interested, but it just feels more right in my gut than HBO, for some reason.

Course, I imagine that the possibility of that is about 0.

HBO only does their own stuff. They won't touch Firefly. Ever.

Showtime has been shedding sci-fi like dead skin. Two shows of theirs made the jump over to Sci-Fi (StarGate, I think, and Outer Limits for sure.)

I really don't see where it goes from here, at least on television.

Lets see who's possibly left:

TNT: Remember what they did to JMS?

TNN: Maybe...they do Star Trek reruns.

WB: Hate Joss Whedon. Probably wont return his phone calls.

PAX: Sha...right.

Forget it, it's over. I wanted to believe.

(Picture me as Mal at the very last scene during the battle of Serenity Valley sequence....)

Well, I like to think there's still some hope. The folks over at FF:IA seem to be connected with ME in some fasion (un-official contact inside of some sort) as they break the news first in most cases, and they seem to have some home yet...

At this point, Firefly's production companies (20th Century Fox Television and Mutant Enemy) are pursuing what avenues they believe are available. These avenues, however, would not benefit from the targeted mailing we've been using so far, as they are not aimed at networks.

so they've given up on TV but are persuing other options. who know exactly what, but we'll have to wait it out and see.

I've been hearing so much about Joss vs. WB, can somebody please tell me what happened between them?

I keep hearing that UPN stole Buffy from WB, but I would like more details. I'd like to believe there could still be a chance at WB. I mean, how bad can it be?

Thanks

Don't forget about first-run syndication.

Star Trek: TNG and DS9 each ran seven seasons in first run syndication. Xena and Hercules ran many seasons in this manner as well.

It takes a little more wheeling and dealing to secure enough stations around the country but it's certainly within the realm of possibility.

If Mutant X can do it, Firefly can.

I'm surprised Mutant X manages to make it at all. It's hard enough to be a GOOD show in the current first-run syndie environment. I'd say a year or two before Xena stopped running, that whole market really went south. Deep Space 9 managed to end just in time.

I would LOVE to see this work. Absolutely love it. Saturdays at 7pm, I would be there.
