Hey y'all

I'm really seriously thinking about getting a Firefly tattoo. Been wanting another one for a few years now and got to thinking that Firefly would be pretty meaningful, to me at least. Yeah, I'm probably a head case, but I'm a sincere one! I was thinking of the Ballad of Serenity and how moving and symbolic the lyrics are. They resonate for me.

The lyrics of the Ballad, perhaps, winding around my ankle.

Body art occured to anyone else? I can't be the only inked fan.

Head case?

I don't think so.

I mean you don't plan to put the name of a boygroup on your back, circled by little cute hearts.

The lyrics of the ballad have a meaning beyond the tv-series.

They'll remind you forever of Firefly.
They'll tell something about the person breathing beneath the tattooed skin.
And her/his view of life.

I say go for it.
I say I like the idea.

Silverado.

I have no ink, by the time I got the guts to get one, I had a significant other that threw a hissy fit to no end. (men can be dumb)

In my opinion, if you get a tatoo, it should mean something to you, it should represent a part of who you are, or who you want to be. So getting some ink to represetn Firefly is not crazy at all, and definitely worthy of the time, expense and pain. Do us proud.

That said....I make it a rule to ignore any words said immediately after the phrase "in my opinion"

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I do not have any ink, but my fiancee does. It is a blue rose on her hip. I think it is great. Never really though of getting one for myself, but I am not against tatoos.

I think getting a Firefly tat would be cool.

I think the lyrics winding around your ankle, arm, whatever body part you choose, would be very poetic and beautiful.

Let us know how it all works out, maybe even post a pic of it?

Perhaps a small Blue Sun logo?

I do have ink, and speaking from experience, the ankle is one of the most painful places you can get a tattoo (because the bone is so close to the surface of the skin).
Considering how relatively new the idea of a Firefly tattoo must be (remember, I said relatively), I would suggest waiting until NEXT September (firefly's 1 year anniversary) to see if you're still keen on the idea, then run with it.

Elka,

I dig you. The ink I have now is on my back, near my spine. Only seriously painful when he hit certain nerve paths. I have a terribly high pain tolerance though and would be willing to brave the ankle.

And yeah, I am going to give it time. Body needs time, I think. Maybe play with designs and think on it for six months or so and then spend another few getting the art just right. I know that this is not something to rush into.

But talking to y'all about it has got me to the point where I'm seriously weighing it. My husband has given me a couple sidelong glances. I think he's thinking headcase. He'll get over it.
