okay, this may have been asked before, but in all the joss whedon shows, which ONE character annoys you the most? your reason can be anything. hate the actor/actress, stupid plot line, completely irrelevant character, anything. just try and pick someone that is a little more prevalent, not some random person who did not have any lines or anything.

my choice? i never liked knox from angel. he bugged me. i just hated the character and not because he turned out to be a bad guy. he was just annoying with the bumbling speech and the rumpled look and the lab coat.

Warren Mears from BtVS. Actually, I thought the actor did a great job portraying a completely evil nerd. But of all the vampires, monsters, demons, etc. to ever appear on the show, I thought that Warren, an ordinary human (supposedly with a soul), was the most evil. When Willow caught him in the woods and he showed no remorse at all - except feigned remorse to try a save his own ass - and she flayed him alive, I cheered. I had never before been so happy to see the bad guy get his just reward.

Apathy on the Rise. No One Cares.

I've always been irritated by Maggie Walsh.

Dr. Frankenstein had the potential to be an excellent 'uber evil' but instead the lamest of UE's, Adam, killed her and bored me for 1/2 of a season.

I'd rather have seen Walsh rise to her evil potential and rain terror on Sunnydale.

I never did take to the Groosalug. Mark Lutz brought some appreciated humor to the part, but overall, I found him very bland.

I'd have to go with "Evil" Cordy from season 4 of Angel. She never played evil convincingly at all, especially with the constant whispering of every line. Not only that, but it took away from what was once an incredibly beloved character. Thank goodness the writers returned Cordy to her old self in the last season, or it would have been a sad end for one of the longest-running characters in the Buffyverse.

When Wesley was on BTVS...he was written to be hated and it worked for me. :)
Of course when he went to Angel he quickly became one of my fav's.

The worst for me was the slayer in season 2 that was called when Buffy died at the end of season 1. She had that horrible accent and I know she is a famous singer now but she was painful to watch as an actress. I was actually relieved when they killed her off...and the replacement was, of course, Faith who was great.

And..oh yeah..all the 'potentials' in S7.

Kendra? She wasn't that bad, just that stupid accent was awful.

Riley. He just bugs me, not so much in S4, but when he comes back.

Hands down, the most annoying Whedoverse character is/was Dawn. Excruciatingly irritating, always whining, everything always about her, everybody always persecuting her...

... I'm not a violent person by nature, but there were times I wanted to grab Mr. Pointy and drive it through that annoying little wench's irritating skull, gouge out her exasperating brain matter and smear it on the wall...

Connor wasn't all too wonderful, either. Too bad they never got introduced to each other, maybe they would've eloped and ran away, or killed each other quickly...

She was too darn cute for that. I liked her a tad more during season 7 too...her and Xander were kinda the non-super hero club.

You don't sound at all violent LOL

Mine would have to be Connor (except when still in diapers). He was bad enough alone, but then evil Cordy came in and I wanted to do what is explained above.

Oh, and Fox, there were the worst characters ever.

I totally agree. I didn't like what they did with the character and hated it when they brought her back as a zombie. It was a waste... There was so much more they could have done with The Initiative story arc.

I don't even hate the actor, it's just the character seemed to have no personality aside from "i hate my daddy! bad dad! bad, bad dad!" If the father had just killed the son, we wouldn't have had that problem. whine, whine, whine... now that I think about it, he WAS a lot like Dawn.

I thought well-adjusted Stephen in season 5 was actually pretty cool. More people need personality wipes I suppose...

UM, there was this character in the seventh season of Buffy named Kennedy. It was bad enough that Willow was reduced to a nothing character, but to have her hook up with a man-hating, immature, filthy rich, brat was almost the final straw. I continued to watch because of Buffy only. Kennedy + Willow = no chemistry at all. Tara was sweet, and loving. Kennedy was militant, and angry. Maybe it's because I'm such a Willow fan, but I wanted a happy ending for her, and didn't get it.

I have several who are annoying, I didn't necessarily HATE them, but I usually fast forward while they are on:

Drusilla, on many occasions, annoyed me to no end. Although I liked when she was really evil, I disliked when she was trying to be...sexy? Whatever. And when she does the snarl/snap/growl thing. Stupid.

Glory. She was just so lame.

Hyena Xander.

Dawn, seasons 4 through 6.

Riley's WIFE--ick! What was it with the continual tucking of the hair behind the ear?

There's more, I'm sure. I just can't think of them right now.

i notice that so far, no one is annoyed by anyone on firefly.
which is as it should be, of course!

my personal vote would have to be a three-way tie between Dawn, Connor and Kennedy.

DEFINITELY Kennedy, followed by the rest of the "potentials." I loathed this character, and did Willow even need a love interest in Season 7?

THESOMNAMBULIST

Well I think the mark of a great show is in making characters annoying. I mean in life you come across them all the time. Dawn I thought was a great character because she was so annoying. I didn't mind her.

No but Willow after about season 4 just irratated the hell out of me.

Pretty much the whole of the initiative was irratating in season 4.

Plus that little kid with the master in season one?!?!?

SIMONWHO

I think a lot of the irritating characters here mentioned suffered as a result of behind the scenes changes. Lindsay Crowse had to cut her stay short which meant that her arc got curtailed (although in a really cool way) and Adam's got overlengthened. Evil Cordelia should have been around for the whole season, Kennedy was a bit of quick replacement as the possible return of Tara didn't happen.

The only one who had his full dues really was Connor. Yet even he got to redeem himself in season 5.

Now then. A confession. Bear in mind that I love the character and thinks she's utterly adorable but... occasionally Kaylee got on my nerves. Perhaps it's because I'm so tired of will they/won't they storylines but just sometimes when she was trying to get together with Simon or getting bothered by him... she was a bit of a pain.

Okay, I'm done, you can all put up the signs now.

I almost forgot those two cowboy vampires in Buffy S2, forgot which episode, when Buffy was in the mall with her mom. They were annoying and not easy to kill as they should have been.

From Angel i'd have to say Jasmine, it was this weird combo of evil and happyness. And everyone was just obeying her, like grr wake up you people and do something already, you fight evil! Don't get me wrong Gina Torres is a great actress, I just didn't like the character.

From Firefly the only character that was annoying was Saffron.

I actually enjoyed that turn of events - first of all, Evil!Cordy was pissing me off and obviously all the Cordy-Connor stuff was in equal parts annoying and disturbing.

But I LOVED what Jasmine was about - here we KNEW she had to be evil, but for a full episode, maybe two, all we saw were the positive effects of her presence. And the whole Fred v. the World felt so much like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, in a really cool way. Not to mention in Home, where Lilah congratulates them on ending world peace. I love how they're forced to consider the implications of Jasmine's rule and the fact that it would have been overwhelmingly positive for the whole of humanity. Mmmmmm... moral ambiguity. Jasmine was genuinely convinced she was doing the right thing for the world.

*gasp* Seriously? Do you mean 'Saffron', the ruse (I suppose I could understand), or the actual woman? 'Cause I think she's hilarious.

I noticed that, she really bugged me too.

My most annoying character is without a doubt Riley. He was just so bland and so wrong for Buffy. He probably wouldn't have annoyed me as much if he hadn't taken up so much screen time in Season 4 although i think he got worse in Season 5 when he was always hung up with the fact that his girlfriend was stringer than him. Didn't think the actor was that good either.

Also, i really didn't like Principal Wood in Season 7. I found his character and storyline really uneccessary.

On Angel, the most annoying was Connor for reasons previously mentioned.

To end on a positive note, i find no one on Firefly annoying.

I found ALL the slayers in BTVS in the last season really annoying, especially the one that went after willow - she was so up herself. Their accents were crap too. The only one I liked was the one who couldn't speak English - she was funny. I agree about Dawn too, if I had a sister like that, I'd leave the country!
